DISCLAIMER: THERE IS NO "RPW" WAY TO WORK, THIS IS JUST A DISCUSSION

Hello ladies :) Some of you might have seen my message today in the IRC channel, I had a crappy day at work. I meant to stay and chat (you ladies make me happy!) but I got distracted by other repsponsibilities... That time was a reflective period for me and I have determined that my work related issues deal with people viewing me as BOSSY.

Yes, the bossy word. Feminists love to #banbossy (and then turn around and call themselves a BOSS A$$ B!TCH) but I digress. I did some searching on google about being perceived as bossy and found this

“A man showing the same traits would probably be called decisive or powerful instead,” Adams notes. She points to years of research by Princeton University psychology professor Susan Fiske showing that, while men can be considered both likable and competent, women are perceived as less likable the more competent they are.

“A woman who is a strong leader is violating what people may regard as ‘normal’ feminine behavior, which is submissive and self-effacing,” says Adams. “That can be unsettling or even threatening, which is why ‘bossy’ carries such a load of hostility.”

Now I do definitely consider myself a natural self-starter and very independent AT WORK. (Please note I am super RPW in all other aspects of my life, and I love it. Work is just one place I don't apply the concepts.)

At work I find myself efficiently and quickly completing everyday tasks, and then looking at what other projects to start on to improve our workplace.

I work with all women (federal government employees), and it seems like the more I do this, the less they seem to like me. When I first started and I was just learning, they were very friendly. Now that I have become competent in those areas, they seem to resent me.

It's super frustrating and I'm not happy. And I would rather have a peaceful work atmosphere then being considered super amazing at work but have no social life. I also fear that because a lot of people meet at work, male patrons who come into our workplace won't view me as dateable because I don't act RPW at work, and they immediately work categorize me as unfeminine. I mean it's not like I'm getting younger!

So basically, I wanted to get feedback from you ladies. Do you experience this in your work? Or am I just hamstering?
