She gets it until number 5 when she parrots the idea that men will more likely commit to a woman with a baby.
No. Just no. Men who haven't got kids and don't want to raise another mans child aren't lotharios. All having the kid does is lower the standard of man that is ready to commit or push you towards men with their own children already.
I fucking loved her line about men understanding marriage is a sacrifice but for women its nothing but the culmination of the silly princess fantasy. So fucking true, women want a wedding, not a marriage.
[–]LeChevalierRouge 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This woman grew up in foster care and seeks "traits it turns out lead to marriage a surprisingly high percentage of the time". Much of her advice involves actively resisting hypergamy and seeking men with provider/beta traits.
Having a child is horrible advice, but "makes sense" from the point of view of the article, in that it will likely result in a woman more likely to want to get married. A rude surprise awaits when a woman finds afterward that while her SMV doesn't decrease her appeal as an LTR diminishes, and the kind of men who used to stick around for a while now join the bad boys in the pump-and-dump party.
[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I disagree. Her point is that having a baby weeds out people like myself--young males with no current desire for children (my own or otherwise).
Yes, most men are going to be turned off by single-mom-status, but the men who don't care are more likely to marry you anyway (which is the topic of the article).
[–]SigmaMu 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Right, but it's not hard to weed guys like that out to begin with. You don't need to use another human being as a living embodiment of a shit test.

No. Just no.
Can we as a community of internet users agree to never again use the construction "No. Just no." again? It's like the latest version of the old standby "Ummm, no."

Female anger terrifies men.
It's like they just can't handle looking at things without casting this stupid trope. No, we're not terrified of angry women. No we're not intimidated by strong, intelligent women. We just don't think you're attractive.
Not intimidated or afraid, to us, you're like a boy. I'm amused but not impressed.
[–]TRP VanguardWhisper 33 points34 points35 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The way I describe it is that having a woman angry at you is not unlike having your friend's tiny little yip dog attack your ankles.
It's not terrifying and ferocious, but there are certain social ramifications if you punt it into the next room.

A small violent woman can do some damage, plus you cant do anything about it other than leave. She holds all the cards, and can fuck your world easily with nothing more than an accusation.

"yeah it let's the dog know who's boss. More wine?"

Female anger is hilarious. Just another opportunity to piss on their shit tests.
[–]TRP VanguardArchwinger 32 points33 points34 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That statement right there changed my marriage. In a week, my wife was amusing instead of infuriating.
"What the fuck is wrong with YOU?!?!?!"
"Uh...I'm sorry but you have this snot bubble that keeps bulging when you scream. Could you blow your nose before you yell any more?"
"I do not have a snot bubble, jackass!"
"I think I need a beer if I have to keep staring at your nose. Can I stare at your breasts?"
"Quit making fun of me!"
"I will if you get me a beer."

Someday, if I ever allow a woman to live with me again, I will do this if she yells.

Female anger terrifies men
Mainly because the law now provide angry, vindictive women plenty of nuclear options via restraining orders and divorce actions.
[–]RedpillMartian 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would disagree about female anger terrifying men (that want children). Any woman who gets any quickly or irrationally over a small thing, is the type of woman more likely to commit infanticide (me thinks). If you want to have children, a woman more likely to kill her children than say, a woman that couldn't hurt a spider, or a mouse, would be terrifying. Going into business with an addict is terrifying, which is why we try to find out who are, and aren't addicts.
to men that aren't currently looking for the future mother of his children I am in complete agreement. the author wasn't specific by what she meant, but angry women are more likely to be killers, sociopathic killers.
[–]tallwheel 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Actually, I would agree that female anger terrifies blue pill men. They think they need to fix the situation immediately or risk losing the snatch, so they supplicate and do anything to try to keep their woman happy. The author is not talking to red pill men here who know about shit tests and not to take female anger seriously.
[–]Modredpillschool 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You've got a point there. Not just anger- but anything negative. If a woman disagrees.. "well I don't really like xyz.."
"Oh ok honey we'll change it, don't worry teddybear I love yousomuchpleaselovemeback!"
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly - I wouldn't date a 13 year old me either. And that is how women act when they get "entitlement anger", turn on the waterworks, or try to act knowledgable about fields I know they are clueless about. Like a teenage boy raging with his hormones trying to push authority to see what he can get away with.

I love how her qualifications as a "why you're not married expert" involve at least two divorces. Getting married seems to be the goal, but necessarily staying married (divorce = cash/prizes/alpha seed supported by child support).
That being said, she's definitely on the right track to getting through to the hamsters out there vacationing in Spinsterhood.
[–]Glenbert 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think she blows her credibility there. She could retitle the article"Why You Haven't Had a Wedding," and that would work better.
Still, she is right. It's just that the people who need this message the most wI'll use that credibility issue to disregard it.

divorce = cash/prizes/alpha seed supported by child support
This made me LOL! I love the "prizes" part, made me picture that old game show Let's Make a Deal and the woman is like, "Well, I could keep my stable, beta provider...but I can't resist what's behind curtain number 2 Bob!"
[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No way to lose! Hell yeah she will take curtain #2, there is no downside.
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes, getting married is pretty easy, just don't be a bitch and be attractive. Staying married is an entirely different issue, which this woman has failed on three times. Maybe the men she selected were a problem, but a minister's son was divorce material? Hard to believe. I think she's projecting here and basically explaining why she has so utterly failed in relationships. Maybe 4 is the magic number for her after her self-discovery.
[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Or 5 or 6
[–]FortunateBum 14 points15 points16 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The deal is: most men just want to marry someone who is nice to them.
Think about this statement guys. Think about how an adult woman actually had to write this down in an article meant for other adult women. Oh? Men like being treated well? Profound....
Welcome to the Red Pill where you learn that female psychology is fucked to say the least.
[–]spinlock 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Think about how she only figured it out after getting divorced 3 times.
[–]LadyLumen 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Why are we taking marriage advice from a woman who has been divorced 3 times?
[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 18 points19 points20 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is advice on how to capture a man for a wedding, not necessarily be a loyal wife forever until death do you part
[–]urbanassthetic 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thats what I thought. She's a pro at getting married, just not staying married.
[–]GunsGermsAndSteel 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
We aren't. They are. And, though flawed, it's probably the best and most honest "how to snag a man" article I've ever seen. Sure beats Cosmo.
This article flat-out says "You're not getting married because you're a mean, unintelligent, self-centered bitch. Change it."
That's a breath of fresh air.
[–]bgny 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
This is posted on thebluepill and most of the comments knock her for being married three times and trying to give advice. Total lack of empathy and understanding.
Can it be that after three failed marriages she has done some introspection and now understands her mistakes? And now she is trying to wake women up to theirs and increase their happiness?
Nope just, "this idiot failed in marriage three times and now she's trying to impart her "wisdom" LOLOL
[–]LeChevalierRouge 14 points15 points16 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
most of the comments knock her for being married three times and trying to give advice
Yet her advice is on how to get married, not to stay married. She has been successful three times with her approach.
[–]Modredpillschool 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
To be fair, I wouldn't want to take the risk of being number three...
[–]GunsGermsAndSteel 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I just sent that to my wife to send to her (unmarried, hitting the wall) BFF; I doubt she will send it to her and if she did, said BFF would surely misinterpret the article to mean "you deserve a millionaire even though you're an ugly slut who's fucked every guy in town and has no skills as a homemaker".
Because ultimately, marriage is not about getting something -- it's about giving it. Strangely, men understand this more than we do. Probably because for them marriage involves sacrificing their most treasured possession -- a free-agent penis -- and for us, it's the culmination of a princess fantasy so universal, it built Disneyland.
Awesome paragraph. Nice article.

Married a "MBA' at 19 (Notice how the only piece of information to describe the man she married in her youthfullest describes status)
Married some beta when she was 32 with kid (I'll take Beta Bucks for 400 Alex) divorced him after some years and married some cad alike her deadbeat dad - who proceeded to abandon her, just like her dad (attempted return to alpha fucks).
Her past lead her to an increase need for security and commitment (she was raised in foster homes) which probably lead to the drive to put actual effort in order to get a husband (yet she is still subject to female sexual pluralism - alpha fucks, beta bucks). All things considered, she covered the basics pretty well, in a half-ignorant and subjective way, B+ for effort.
As usual the enourmous comment section is a pot of gold. All those married men and women unanimously agreeing, and the strong, independent womyn projecting in full HD "Ratatouille: The quest for self-assurance".
My favourite - coincidentally expressing hypergamy in it's purest form: hubris
"Empowered, independent women need not concern themselves with this sad, misguided article. American women are strong, beautiful, capable and FABULOUS! No need for LoserMen to apply to be their husbands - WINNERS ONLY, PLEASE! I applaud you, GladiatorWomen! Keep it real, keep it pure! "

So strong and fabulous the average american woman is popping anti-depressants like Tic-Tacs and eating away her emotions.
Keep drinking that Kool-aid ladies, many stray cats need-a-rescuing ! And those private prisons won't fill themselves, they need men that were raised by single mothers.

Dat hair
But seriously a lot of the points she makes are actually true, if you know, these women are actively looking for a relationship. Most women before the wall either already have one, or know how to settle. However, the insecure "I think relationship potential lies in how good I look in a bikini" women that this is for are going to get tossed around by guys like me (Read: Assholes) until they hit the wall.
Sooner or later, an asshole who has no idea how to use a condom is going to impregnate her. This will ruin her figure, and she's going to come to the hard realization that she's done fucking assholes. She is damaged goods. That's when she goes after some beta. It's the circle of shit that self-aware assholes originally detested, which made us who we are today. You just can't be romantic and get a girl who didn't have a unflattering nickname in high school. They've already been taken down a peg or two. No work is needed.
I know I sound like a broken record here, but it has a lot to do with so-called 'Female empowerment.' Women spend their whole lives they can be both a Princess and a Strong, independent woman at the same time. This gave them a ticket to do whatever the hell they want in the world with little to no consequences. So, their brain tells them that they're better than everyone else, but their instincts are still subservient and craven.
This is why we thrive. TRP men learn how to take women down a peg or two. Put them into their proverbial biological place, where they feel 'at home.' TBP men are just as indoctrinated by the feminist extremism as the women are, and thinking being romantic and craven under the altar of the almighty pussy is a good idea. You can win the mind, but if you can't win the heart, it's all for naught. If you win the heart, the mind slowly molds to you.

"Which is also to say -- if what you really want is a baby, go get you one. Your husband will be along shortly. Motherhood has a way of weeding out the lotharios."
And this is where it falls apart. As well as the entirety of the sixth entry in her list. Telling women to essentially become single moms so they can find a good man. I can't think of a better way to torpedo a woman's love life, and make damn sure that men like me, who consider her as pump and dump material at best are the main ones who come along.
Not to mention how the entire sixth entry was essentially nothing but railing about how women don't have enough self-esteem. No, ladies, you're NOT good enough. You think too highly of yourselves, you think you're entitled to a man of character.
Hey ladies, newsflash, a man of character is not a fucking chump. If a man has any real character at all, he will not wife up the nearest slutty, entitled, single mom. The exact minute he finds out she's a slut, he will next her, because a man of character knows that he's only going to destroy himself and all around him by walking down the aisle with this woman.
This could've been a great advice article, except for the fact that it's still enslaved to the modern narrative, which, considering that it's a Huffpo article, is not surprising.
Also, unsurprisingly, comments are closed for the article. Hmmm...
