(i) Already cheating on him, the friend bitch is providing cover.

(ii) Going to divorce him very soon, quite possibly not return from 'vacation' especially if she's going to a state that has extremely short residency requirement for filing for divorce (Nevada?).

he should request his vacation from work for the same time period. tell the wife he is indeed taking vacation and be done with it. either he is in the car with them on their trip, or he goes to vegas for two weeks. tell her he hasn't decided which one yet but will tell her when he decides.
