Why not just have a permanent "Blue pill example" link on the sidebar that maps to /r/askwomen. It's essentially the same thing.

Hamster brain of peace. Id highly suggest to disregard her advice.

The number of girls who have complimented my 'take-charge' attitude when it comes to date-planning is quite high. Plus, its masculine and whether they care to admit it or not, it makes their ginas tingle.

Classic feminine imperative. Say one thing, reward another.

Classic feminine imperative

I'm not sure it's accurate to attribute it to the imperative. I don't think this is a mating strategy. I think it's simply a result of the conscious part of the brain not being aware of the older portions' instinctive drives.

I don't think that evolution has selected for this disconnect - that's why I say it's not part of the imperative. Rather, it's just not something that is selected against.

Incidentally, Dan Gilbert is a scientist who studies this disconnect. His book, Stumbling on Happiness is worth a read. It's not something peculiar to women. A lot of our instinctive drives (and in particular, the Four F's are handled by primitive parts of the brain: the hindbrain and the limbic system.

It's almost as if we have three (or arguably more) separate brains and communication between them isn't that great. The part of you that's actually you - your personality, your ability to speak and reason, is centered in the left-frontal lobe. Its only contact with the more primitive regions is through these vague feelings.

This, of course, as you know, is the origin of the hamster in-joke. You feel something, you act on that feeling, and then your conscious brain invents an explanation for your actions. Gilbert discusses experiments he's performed (on men and women) that reveal the process in action.

Anyway, the imperative is "I'm going to get the best man I can." The hamster is, "I'm attracted to that person; I will invent an explanation after the fact." What's going on here is before attraction: "this is what I like" and it's the conscious part of the brain speaking, not the part that actually drives attraction.

[–]Modredpillschool 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think this is a mating strategy.

Oh, it certainly is! Cultivating a collection of willing betas for that portion of their schedule. http://rationalmale.wordpress.com/2011/08/23/schedules-of-mating/

I don't think that evolution has selected for this disconnect - that's why I say it's not part of the imperative. Rather, it's just not something that is selected against.

The disconnect of the feminine imperative is certainly selected for, it allows women to deal with the cognitive dissonance that would otherwise cripple a human between their two mating strategies.

Exactly what I tried to explain.

She said she wants a guy who will pay for the date yet will take her anywhere she wants...but we all know she will go home with the guy who won't do that. She just wants a wallet that will validate her existence for a few hours and make her feel good about herself without her having to do any work.

By the way, love this subreddit~

[–]Modredpillschool 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It's easy to lose sight of reality, women can be extremely convincing when they say "this is what I want, X Y and Z." In the back of your head you know it's not true, but when they say it to your face, it's hard to remember that.

So I just say "Oh shit, well I can't do X Y or Z. Call me when you want W"

By the way, love this subreddit~

Thanks!

This is the best comment of the entire exchange:

"Could you please refrain from calling women females? Thank you."

I can't stop laughing at this...the sensible reply by the next commenter just makes it more ridiculous.

[–]itsmehobnob 4 points5 points6 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

from the link the mod provides:

One situation where we hear "males" and "females" is when we talk about animals - this is because the animals' sex is the only trait we care about. When you refer to a human that way, you also imply that you only care about their sex. It's slightly dehumanizing. This is fine in scientific studies, in court cases, and in the military, but not for general situations.

There is so much ridiculous here I don't even

Example from my own life. Girl Im dating right now told me she doesnt like when guys are full of themselves.

Im pretty damn full of myself and the type of game I run is cocky/sarcastic/funny. I snagged her virginity.

Her only boyfriend ended up friendzoned after 3 months. Took me half the time to sleep with her.

"I want to know that there's something I can eat."

There is nothing more telling about Western women than their self-important fad diets. There are very few women that I know who don't have lists of what they will and will not eat. They even use the term "I don't eat that" instead of "I prefer not to eat that" or "I don't like that."

Whereas most men will have a preference for certain foods, women will have lists of eats and eat-nots. Their diets are almost entirely fad-based and rarely involve any science.

I actually heard a woman state the other day that she stopped drinking soy milk because of "all the hormones they add." (Realizing that's also why she stopped drinking cow milk as well.)

[–]JonnyBeanBag 14 points15 points16 points 13 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

She has some weird reflux disorder that gets aggravated with certain foods as explained in a lower post, so...she's not really out of line on this I think.

Just because she says something to the first comment's effect (got us all going) doesn't mean we have to jump all over her and scream "HAMSTER! HAMSTER!" guys. Lets have some restraint and critical thinking. If we start making cognitive distortions and assumptions we're assholes.

There was a lot of Blue-pilling going on in there though, granted. Lets just be wise.

[–]itsmehobnob 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She should have said that in the first post then. She implied that she was speaking for a larger group of women not just herself and her shitty illness likely caused by a shitty diet.

Also, if she has diet restrictions the onus is on her to say something early. "If we're going for food keep in mind I cannot eat xyz" Problem solved.

[–]JonnyBeanBag -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Couldn't agree more. Well put.

[–]Kronos6948 -1 points-1 points-1 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

So, in a perfect world, this is how it should have played out:

M - "Hey, we're going to Restaurant X tonight! I hear they have a great selection of wines!"

F - "Do they have any vegetarian dishes? I don't eat meat"

M - "I'll ask when we get there. I'm sure they do" (most places do nowadays)

...and if the restaurant doesn't, always have a plan b. Plan b also works in a non-reservation restaurant that has a long line.

OR:

M - "Hey, we're going to Restaurant X tonight! I hear they have a great selection of wines!"

F - "Oh, I've already been there and I hate to say it, but I can't eat there. Everything is pasta/gluten based, and I have celiac. How about Restaurant Y? It'll be my treat!"

But, in this woman's perfect world:

M - "Hey, we're going to Restaurant X tonight! I hear they have a great selection of wines!"

F - "Ugh...why didn't you ask me where I wanted to go earlier. I don't even know if they have anything I can eat!"

At this point, she's already ruined the fun that could happen, because he knows she's pissed/spoiled and nothing he could suggest would change that.

[–]JonnyBeanBag 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Word, maybe she just sucks all around....on to the next!

[–]InterNetting -2 points-1 points0 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Having to know what any place she ever wants to eat at has beforehand, would be enough for me to throw in the high-maintenance towel right there.

[–]JonnyBeanBag 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The onus has to be on her to mention allergies or dietary restrictions for sure. High maintenance for not disclosing that? meeeh...maybe, yeah i might agree, maybe she just sucks all around.

[–]Modredpillschool 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be unable to deal with regular every day life and not roll with the punches screams high maintenance. If you have a food allergy, order something specific. If they don't have it, get a drink and agree to relocate. Laugh it off. It's a date.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 13 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

There is nothing more telling about Western women than their self-important fad diets.

THIS x1000. My facebook is lit up everyday with lemon detox diet, green smoothie diet, paleo shit. And they are still fat as fuck.

But I'm Korean and live in Korea. Korean girls are very thin (as in normal weight) like 55 kg. And they EAT! Most girls I go out with here eat more than me actually (I'm 90 kg). They will eat fatty pork Korean bbq, drink tons of Soju, drink tons of cocktails/beer, pizza, burgers all of it. They NEVER just request a salad and they eat tons of rice/carbs.

And they still remain like 55 kg with great legs. On the other hand, fat Western girls come over here asking about salads and wheat bread (there's only white bread in Korea) and get upset when there's non available and that Koreans are SO backwards how they don't offer a wide variety of foods for them. Korean girls who are twice as thin as them are like "uhh what? why? Just eat!". You can see this in most asian girls how they take photos of their food and post it online. Asians just love food and yet are still thin.

[–]TRP Vanguardtheubercuber 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Interesting story about Korea. I personally see American girls always stuffing themselves with starchy snacks between meals (because their salads don't fill them up).

Any girl I meet (especially overweight) will always make a point to showcase how little they eat at meals. Maybe if they ate a proper meal and laid off the chips they would be healthier.

Are Korean girls more physically active? Any other differences you notice regarding weight/health?

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 13 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Funny, cause in Korea, girls want to show how MUCH they can eat. They want to impress guys with how much they can eat~

Korean girls are not that physically active, but they don't need to be. Average weight is like 115 lbs. Girls are just super petite here.

Any other differences you notice regarding weight/health?

Um like a ton lol. Dude, the obesity rate in Korea is the lowest in the world. It's ~1%. I never see any fat Koreans. Korean girls will wear high heels/skirts 12 months of the year (with leggings during winter). They will put on makeup everyday to look good. They dress up to impress guys when they go out. Going to clubs is like....you have no idea man lol. It's just all around great. Ask ANY guy who has been to Asia and he will agree. The average girl here is 5'6" and like 115 lbs like I said, and that is nothing special. You need to have a pretty face, low weight AND have good fashion in Korea to be given a second look. Basically, a beat up face, any height, any clothes are good enough in the States if you are like below 150 lbs lol.

Koreans are also brutally honest. It's a culture based on appearances for sure. Your parents/friends will tell you to your face if you are getting fat or if you are fat or need to lose weight. They will comment how you look bad that day or you need a haircut. How you present yourself is one of the MOST important aspects of your life in Korea.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 13 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Thats so fucking true man. I go to Arizona State, and the second I get off Campus (I live in a poorer neighborhood) the size of people walking around is bordering on obscene. Hell, chicks with busted faces get second looks because everyone else is overflowing fupa from their jeans.

As for why America is so fat? Probably because everything people eat here is loaded up with a fuckton of sugar and high fructose corn syrup. That shit is toxic and hamplanets are always guzzling down soda, or sweet tea. That shit makes you fat as fuck, lets wash down our pastry with a mocha strawberry latte vanilla chai crapuccino.

Not to mention the hamplanets remove all the hot womens competition. We all know what happens when women have no competition.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not only that, but if you call someone fat these days in the U.S you are considered literally worse than Hitler. Social ridicule is a powerful tool for getting rid of unwanted behavior, and we've lost that.

[–]venereveritas 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

As for why America is so fat? Probably because everything people eat here is loaded up with a fuckton of sugar and high fructose corn syrup.

Most Americans consume a diet high in fats, which offer a high amount of calories, but do not fill up the stomach all that well (100 calories of broccoli will fill you Vs 100 calories of olive oil). Another reason is most Americans choose foods that taste good (fats, sugars, and salts) but contain little nutrients (vitamin and minerals). The body alerts the brain whenever we're running so, and if you're eating a diet of Mcdonalds, you're always going to be on low.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The western diet consists of a diet high in fats, sugars, and refined grains. You find this combination of ingredients in most processed foods.

That being said, a diet high in fat will not make you fat. The keto diet is a diet high in fats and protein. People lose weight on it.

A diet high in sugar will cause you to gain weight much faster than a diet high in fat. Your body needs fat to function correctly. Fat is also very satiating. That is why rich (fatty) foods make you feel very full. 100 calories of broccoli may fill your stomach but it will not satiate your hunger.

Yes you can get fat eating too many calories from fat, but also too many calories from anything, but it takes longer to do so.

It is true that the western diet contains little nutition. But this causes malnutrition, not obesity.

The 'constantly on empty' feeling that you are talking about is a result also of a high sugar diet. The hormone insulin is responsible for regulating your blood sugar and appetite. When you consume large amounts of sugar (which for the sake of this post, we can say includes refined grains and starchy foods) it spikes your blood sugar.

In order to bring your sugar levels back to normal your body must release massive amounts of insulin. This will stimulate fat storage. You body takes all the sugar and converts it directly into fat for later use. (But with modern sedentary lifestyles there is no later)

Once your body has stored all the sugar as fat, your blood sugar and insulin levels tank. Cause you to 'crash' where you become very hungry, and desire to eat more because all that sugar, well its like rocket fuel. So you eat more of it (if your inclined to do so). Rinse and repeat until you're 400 lbs and have diabetes.

[–]venereveritas 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow, I'm surprised how much is in here.

Yes, I do know you need fats to have a healthy diet, but a lot of people choose oils that have been fried, hydrogenated, or oils like palm and coconut (which act like saturated fats). And yes, a cup of broccoli will not satiate you longer, but this was merely an example of how certain foods work.

I'm glad you mentioned that we do need fat to survive. My previous comment made out fat to be the main villain, when in reality it is needed in certain amounts. My comment was just supposed to be a simple explanation, but clearly it was a little too simple. Thanks for adding on.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being an ex hamplanet myself I feel very strongly about this issue.

[–]dropit_sphere 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's also the diet. I knew an American dude who was grossly obese when he got to Korea. When I left (year later) he was a new man.

[–]RedSunBlue -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Funny, cause in Korea, girls want to show how MUCH they can eat. They want to impress guys with how much they can eat

This is really fascinating to me. Is there a high prevalence of eating disorders in Korea? Do chicks workout a lot?

The reason I ask is because I live in Tokyo, and Japanese women are ridiculously petite as well. The difference is that Japanese women just don't eat very much. Everyday I walk past a row of secretaries and all I see them eating is rice and a cup of soup.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know from my dating experience that Korean girls do NOT pig out. They eat a lot for dinner and lunch (especially during nights out) in order to be social. But otherwise, they just kinda graze at home.

At the same time, any weekend night you will see 100 lb korean girls eating tons of korean bbq, drinking tons of beer, eating ice cream in December, etc. But there's two things: 1) The Korean diet is very healthy; everything is vegetable based and all natural. This is what Koreans eat 90% of the time 2) when koreans do eat fried foods, pizza, burgers, ice cream, they don't eat a lot of it. Western food is pretty expensive here. As a result, a regular pizza is like 25$. So when Koreans eat junk food (and they do), they only eat like half of what any American girl does.

Korean girls are very weight-conscious for sure, just like American girls. But the difference is they actually DO what they say. They know that beauty gets you places so they don't go around like they deserve special treatment and thus eat their way to 150 lbs.

Which is hilarious considering ~70% of American and Australian women are overweight, and ~60% of British women.

to be fair, that user said that she had digestion issues and can't eat certain things without getting acid reflux. i wouldn't be interested in dating somebody with troublesome dietary issues like that (been there, it's fucking annoying and my ironclad bowels ain't waiting around), but it sounds like she has no choice in it.

Although soy milk does contain a chemical that works like estrogen, you'd have to drink/ eat a lot of it if you want to get the negative effects from it. A LOT of it. Hence why this comment of hers is stupid, and why men can haply consume their soy milks without worry.

this subreddit is becoming another petty downvote brigade. come on, guys. that kind of pettiness is worthy of SRS, and it doesn't accomplish anything but making this sub look bad. would yall kindly grow the hell up?

I think all bluepill examples referring to someone on reddit will become that, but I tried to post a positive video too to make up for it

I respond how no self-respecting man would do that, especially as there is an expectation that men pay for the first date. I will definitely let her know where we are going and if she needs to walk a lot, but I'm not asking a girl permission on where to go for the date or for her approval.

Of course, I'm misogynist for suggesting this~

[–]itsmehobnob -3 points-2 points-1 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd want to have a look at their menu first to make sure there's something I can eat, and ideally to plan my other meals of the day around it.

I'm a vegetarian and I don't have to do this. Unless she suffers from serious allergies no one should have to plan their date around this girl's eating habits.
