I'm really enjoying how much Marvel/comic fanboys love the show because they all think they'd be Thor or Superman anyway, but nah. They'd be The Deep. Horny, desperate for recognition, needy, and awkward despite cool powers. Their kink would switch easily from waifu pillows to dolphins. Homelander has too many grooming, social and manipulation skills to be anything but aspirational still tbh.

Edit: I would bet my left tit they're arguing somewhere online that since The Deep can talk to sea life dolphins are giving enthusiastic consent. So ItS ToTaLLy FiNe StOp KiNkShAmInG

I agree but also disagree. Homelander is suppose to be handsome, he is charismatic, isn't afraid of going for what he desires, and is truly great at being what everyone wants him to be. He is also self centered, crazy, and unhinged. But many men now are cowards, cannot hold a conversation to save their lives, cannot pull people in because of how they lack basic skills, are open books, and not attractive. Also unlike homelander they cannot blame their characteristic on being raise coldly (being raised in a lab). Many had loving families but are still terrible people.

I love the show partly because it shows an impressive range in male depravity. Butchers wife rightly turns him down because she knows he cares more about winning over homelander than having a peaceful life with her, and that he won’t protect her son. The deep is NVM 101, the player who preys on women. Stewie lies to starlight about everything in order to work on his revenge plot for robin, when she probably would have been anted him to mourn in less murder-y ways. Translucent in on screen for all of 20 minutes but spends half of that in the women’s bathroom because of course that’s what an invisible man would do. Frenchie trues to comfort a women who’s mourning the loss of her only family in the world with a kiss because he’s high as a kite. A-Train is the worst possible boyfriend to popclaw, and ends up killing her, she didn’t even see it coming to try to fight it, she trusted him and he used that to make it look like she overdosed. I could go on, but basically every man sucks in a different way and it’s the most true to life representation of men I’ve seen in a long time.

Sad and predictable part is that in that sub they keep rooting for Homelander because they hate Stormfront. It's like they can't possibly root for both to lose since they are both terrible. And the amount of sympathy for Deep is sick. I haven't seen the latest episode, but I will be furious if they are trying to give him a true redemption arc.
