John is 24, he graduated from the University of Michigan and lives in Chicago - a nice apartment on the Gold Coast by the loop. He works downtown as a mobile developer and pulls in a solid salary, constantly getting hounded by recruiters trying to poach him makes him feel abundantly secure in his profession.

To say he's fit is an accurate assessment. 8-10% bodyfat, and while not quite at bodybuilding level he's 6'0 195 lbs - very visible six pack and a solid V coming in. Lifts 3-5 times/week and runs 2-3. Access to good clothes, and the wealth of culture provided by a big city naturally lead to a visible high SMV lifestyle that keeps him mentally and spiritually stimulated outside of his work. A tight network of friends has sprung up around him, some he's known since middle school, and some are his good college buddies. Everyone moves to the city, and he got here right after college.

Weekends his phone blows up with invites and what are you up to tonight - guys and girls both know he's the center of the social circle. The abundance of young hot fresh tail pouring into the city from that great golden bread basket known as the midwest gives him plenty of options - tinder, meeting girls out and about during the day, and frequent trips to bars often leaves him with a bit more than he can chew.

He's still working on getting that threesome, but he can't complain too much when his dry spells are 2 weeks tops.

What you're describing is Top ~5%. Saying one in five guys in college lived like that is a little off the mark, I think.

Jake is 28. He lives in a beach town, in a bachelor sized apartment about 30 seconds from the water. He makes decent money with self employed ventures, and also works part time at a local surf shop; he doesn't need to, but it keeps in touch with a circle of friends, provides surplus funds, and most importantly, allows him to network with the tourist and young adult population of the beach town.

Jake doesn't want to do anything serious at the moment, but he loves sex. He spends his average amount of free time with a revolving door of interested female companions, at various social gatherings thrown by his townie friends, business contacts, and female acquaintances, working out or on the beach, pursuing hobbies and building talents that interest him at the time, and pondering what scenario will result in maximum happiness ten years from now.

Jake, IMO, is a 20% young adult man. He has autonomy, attraction, social capability, financial stability, etc. He has the time to decide what he wants to do with his life, and the means to do it. And the other 80% don't set the bar terribly high.

I'm in med school, slightly older than most of my classmates so I get a kick out of watching how things are. Keep in mind this is med school, we live off of loans and have little money (at this stage) to throw around.

There's 3 basic types of men here: the guy that is married with kids for religious reasons, the guy who had a hot girl in college lock him down as soon as she could (and these women are hot and kind without exception), and then there's the field players. First 2 types are boring for this discussion so I'll tell you about the FP's.

They are generally in great shape, not surprising given they are young and know a lot about the importance of nutrition and exercise. Given their future financial and social prospects and good looks there is no end to the women who throw themselves at them. Add in Tinder, which some still use despite not needing it, and they are only as alone as they ever want to be. Most have multiple partners that they spend no money on. Quite the contrary they are fed and wined and dined constantly, the script is completely flipped. They even float any of the dude's friends hanging around, I've often gotten drunk on these women's dime. My friends' phones are full of nudes sent to them without prompting and they have no problem showing them off. Hell, the girls will show me her nudes while she's sitting with my buddy and no one cares.

Now these guys might be soon for the top 5%, which may skew the 20% you're looking for, but right now, objectively, we've done very little.

I'm 32, 6'3" blessed with good looks, a strong jaw, and a large build. My income over the last few years has exceeded a quarter million easily with no sign of slowing. I am entirely self made. I have a place in the city and a place in the country. I have abundant hobbies and an incredible job with my own side business in the works. I work hard / play hard. 60-70 hour work weeks and a minimum of 6 days exercise to stay in shape.

All of this hard work (and luck) has allowed me to more or less have my pick of most women, I don't date anyone above the age of 28 and there are many. As a result I care about none of them which only attracts more. Every time one falls off another 2 step up to take her place, it has become exhausting and fairly meaningless but there's nothing like fresh meat. Women approach me regularly and I have many orbiters. I travel to exotic locations when I want and have enough irons in the fire that my livelihood is not dictated by any one source which only allows me to make riskier bets that seem to keep paying off.

I've been on the other side of things as well, in my mid 20's I was clocking in around 260, chain smoker, needy, video game addicted TV watcher. I could attract cute women but I couldn't keep them because they'd quickly find out how little I thought of myself through my own actions. The ones that stayed were in it for a wallet and a sperm donor and we both knew it. I grew very unhappy with my situation and realized I was the only one who could pull myself out... started making changes and it was a slow road, still challenging every day, but success is addicting and there's no sign of stopping. I came across RP about a year ago and as a result everything that remained missing fell into place. 30+ has been incredible.

Overall, the idea of "top 20%" or top anything for that matter does not appeal to me-- it requires comparison to others, and that in itself is not "RP". I think you should always to be the best YOU that you can, not be better than 80-, 90-, 95- or 99% of the guys out there. You will never be the most handsome, richest, smartest, most charming, or have the most sex appeal if you compare to everyone else.

That being said, it is impossible to not have some sort of idea of how you compare to others and I realize that I am somewhere up there, but I feel like I still have a lot of work to do and that will never stop! My qualities: * 26, about to graduate with my PhD in the sciences from a top 20 school. * Have a 100k job lined up in consulting when I finish school * 6'0, good looking and a big frame: I have been lifting for a few years now and have been in the 1000 lb club for a while. I still have a few lbs (15-20) to shed to get to ripped form. I often get compared to Adrian Grenier from Entourage, Jon Snow from GoT or Dane Cook. * Dress well for my budget, but this will be improved significantly once earning * I speak 4 languages, have been to >20 countries. * I started a small business in college which only recently closed down, but it was a success for 7 years. * Hobbies: avid hockey player (I'm Canadian), amateur DJ (looking to get into production once I graduate), lifting/nutrition, cooking. * Social: I have a few FWBs going that I can call on, but otherwise just practice my game with as many extremely beautiful women as I can find. I have become extremely picky, and do not approach new girls unless they get the butterflies going. I try to approach every day, unless I don't see one that tickles me the right way that particular day. * Lifestyle: right now, with a graduate student budget and graduate student time constraints (I am writing my thesis), I am not the most active in the nightlife or social scene. I feel like things will change once I graduate in a couple of months. My roommate and best friend/wingman who is around my level of game suggests that the limiting factor in meeting more beautiful girls and pulling them is the $ necessary to enrich lifestyle (get into exclusive parties, go on trips, eat at interesting places, etc.). I'm hoping he's at least partially right.

This is interesting, we should define clear distributions for top 20% ! Let's not be women! Precision matter, what's top 20 anyway?

How rich? How tall? How muscular? How many friends? How many points on hotness scale ? Etc...

I don't think boys in college are in the top 20%. Maybe if you are talking about micro economies or tiny social circles. Ultimately nothing you did in college matters unless you personally grew. I didn't read any of that in your post.

I am going to talk to you how I perceive you. None of the things you listed matter. Your parents just paid for you to go on vacation for four years. Banging a sorority chick is not an accomplishment.
