I noticed that infatuations for stranger women are frowned upon by RPers because muh social darwinisn and if you don't have enough courage to game her than you deserve to be left out of the genetic pool. BPers are suspicious about them as well because they think everything that can potentially make a woman uncomfortable is a major sexist issue even when there's no real threat involved.
Regardless of how you personally feel about it, you can't deny infatuations for stranger women have always been a common trope in Western culture and likely not just Western culture: French troubadours wrote about their unrequited love which was often in form of a crush for women they didn't personally know. Dante Alighieri fell in love with his darling Beatrice at 9 but he first talked to her only at 18 after spending his teenage years daydreaming (and masturbating) about her. One of the most popular and recognizable pop song of all time (if not THE MOST popular) is Every Breath You Take by Police which is arguably about an infatuation. I'm sure there are tons of other examples of this same pattern throughout history.
Whether it might be an obsessive compulsive disorder with a dangerous potential or just a harmless romantic daydreaming, you can't deny this kind of scenario has always been pretty common so it's not so much of an anomaly.
