I don't think feminism wants women to actually be as productive as men.

They want women to be compensated as if they were sure. But they don't have any interest in women actually doing the work.

I don't think that either feminism or communism are intended by their followers as experiments. You're saying this from the perspective of someone who's skeptical of the merits of their ideas, and so perhaps you're projecting that onto them. But for someone to dedicate their life to communist revolution or feminist activism, they really have to believe it.

I've spent time in communist circles and a lot of them believe not just that socialism/communism are better than capitalism, but that socialism/communism are inevitable as the stages of history that supplant capitalism. They even believe that there's scientific backing for this.

I wouldn't be surprised if we become more accepting of the idea that there may be innate psychological differencea between genders. I mean, I think that within-group variance is often greater than between-group variance and that culture will inevitably influence gender expression; however, I've always been suspicious of feminists who refuse to even entertain the possibility of innate differences.

With that said, I don't see much evidence that women's increased preoccupation with being attractive is biologically determined. In the animal kingdom, there's a lot of variation in which gender uses flashy visual signifiers to attract mates. Likewise, from an anthropological perspective, we see plenty of examples of male "peacocking." Even now, we're seeing a cultural shift such that men are increasing preoccupied by their physical appearance. If the imperative to be more attractive than same-gendered peers decreases work productivity, then I'm afraid both genders are fucked.

I also think you're giving us feminists too much credit, assuming we're organized and cohesive enough to orchestrate anything nearly as massive and totalitarian as Soviet-style communism. I mean, perhaps there is a feminist conspiracy out there somewhere. They just left me off the invite somehow :(

I think the original waves of feminism were natural consequences of societal advancement. The combination of mass education, improved standards of living, and industrialization created more job opportunities for women, less need for them at home, and more opportunities to be independent. So naturally a clamor arose for the law and society to reflect those changes.

That being said, when feminism got infected with Marxism, the feminism = communism argument becomes much more solid. Feminism stopped being about giving women more opportunity and became more about societal engineering.

Feminism is a thousand things. Some parts of feminism are clearly insane. Those are the issues which seem dominate feminism these years, for which reason feminism rightfully has become scorned. However older feminist issues were clearly fair, such as giving women the right to vote, the right to own property, the right to open bank accounts, etc.

i mean, maybe you personally think the point of life and career is to impress women, but the vast, vast majority of people (regardless of gender) are generally motivated by more substantial things like making a living and success.

i dont know what kinda planet you're living on but i've seen just as many success-hungry and productive women as men and just as many burn-out women as men.

Having spent much of my childhood in a communist regime (at least, according to official record), I would say that the common thing between feminism and communism are that they both originally desire equality, adopt very similar propaganda, smear-attack and populist tactics, and ultimately let the radical, opportunist branch of their philosophy run amok and dominate the discourse. Hillary Clinton is essentially the Lenin of Feminism.

They also fail to understand that to enforce equality is to restrict freedom. And to restrict freedom is to make freedom effectively a commodity (in 60s communism, people had to trade for freedom of food access, speech, information, travel - you need a visa to LEAVE the country, private ownership, and trade itself. Wrap your mind around that) and to invent a class system where freedom is the barrier. Modern feminism is campaigning hard for anti-feminist(aka misogynist) censorship, which begs the question, what exactly is anti-feminist? Insulting a woman on the internet? Objectifying women? Criticizing a woman? Being a man? It's been rendered into such a vague term that will be happily exploited by the next big opportunist leader. Ain't anybody (read: majority of people) for semantics.

Social experiment? Every single movements in human history started out as an experiment. Most of the time, people didn't even know what they're doing, figured things out along the way, and ultimately succeeded/failed through sheer luck - historical, geographical and cultural circumstances beyond their control.

Incidentally, communism is a huge proponent of feminism, most likely because women surprisingly make for good workers and guerrilla fighters. Feminism also went well with its equality/anti-monarchy/anti-imperialism narrative. They only had to pay a small price (ie. right to vote that doesn't even matter because one party) to double the nation's potential workforce/fighters.
