Their problem is, first, the type of man who would stick around as a "Plan B" is probably undesirable and has limited options. Men with options are unlikely to wait around as a long-term benchwarmer for some chick who won't sleep with them within a reasonable time frame. Secondly, the willingness of even Beta Orbiters to wait around will diminish as the women get older and less attractive. So a cute 18 yo girl might have several beta orbiters, but an overweight 50 year old probably won't have so many. Or, if she does, they will be very pathetic and sad cases.

Being an orbiter comes with the territory of being around women. Unless you are so passive and constantly pulling new very other day, there will be that one gal that is in your circle.

Key to orbiting is you setting the orbit. Always be at escape velocity so that if thing can go another way (you find another plate, she gets married,) you can escape orbit without much effort.

Don't be into such a deep orbit that you are her girlfriend. Always be willing to swing to other opportunities at a moments notice.

Being inside a woman's orbit could provide social proof. She may introduce you to new opportunities, open some doors, even provide favors.
