Here's a simple one. You find a wonderful woman who wants marriage and you want to stay with her. No citation necessary.

Depends on what you want from a relationship. One of the main advantages to marriage for certain men is that it widens your dating pool to include women with traits that a lot of traditionally minded men find attractive (low partner count, submissive, conservative, etc.)

If you don't care that much about those qualities, then it shouldn't necessarily be too hard to find a woman who would be happy without marriage. If you do value them, then it might be harder to find an LTR that satisfies you.

Also, certain people won't regard you as an adult until you're married. That may not matter to you much now, but in certain companies with more conservative cultures it can be a career killer, and even ignoring that it's annoying to be thought of as a child.

Do you want to? I don't care and you should do what you want. I might want to get married if I want kids, if my SO wants it, or if I want that level of commitment. I know some people get married for romantic reasons, because it feels right, because it might help their image for their career, because of the legalities and or tax breaks, or because they don't want to die alone. All kinds of reasons that may or may not apply.

The red pill seems to do a lot of great mongering. The rates of divorce drop off quickly to 30% and below if you are in the right demographic. If you choose wisely the risk of divorce can get very low. Plus, if you marry a career woman you won't have to pay alimony and the splitting of the assets will be a lot more fair, since you will be getting half of her shit.

It's a risk rewards question. What benefits would you get from marriage? Are the risks worth it? If you decide no, that's fine. If you don't want to get married, then don't.

You should get married if you (and your partner) want to. It offers some benefits when it comes to custody and the legal commitment can encourage a couple to work through their problems. On the other hand it can make splitting up difficult if one spouse doesn't want to let go and they can drag out a divorce by demanding sentimental items etc. Alimony could be a pain, but could also make sense if one partner has taken primary care of the house.

I'm not religious, but would be willing to marry for a religious boyfriend if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. Marriage doesn't mean much to me personally so it's not something I'd choose particularly.

I don't really know your circumstances, so just do what you think is best. If both partners are working and there are no kids, it might not be of much benefit.

Don't marry without a prenup. Don't fall for the "we don't need a prenup because that's like thinking we'll divorce, I don't like thinking we would divorce" bullshit. Say this back to her: "our love is strong enough to not need a piece of paper to validate it, so filing a marriage is unnecessary."

BP here, you shouldn't the laws are fucked, hell you should hesitant to cohabitate with women even platonically because you can be considered married if you live together long enough. some times as short as a yeah some times as long as ten years. and the laws around cohabiting with a marriage licenses are more fucked.

the stats around marriage are mucky at best but even if you marriage had a 75% chance it still wouldn't be worth the risk.

Look at the legal reasons for marriage and see if they benefit you. Will you or your partner get tax breaks that save you money? Health or education benefits? Do you want your partner to care for you if you're sick? What about if you have children? Will one of you need a pre-nup?

A lot of companies in blue states now give health benefits to live-in partners without marriage.

Myself, being DINK at the moment, I decided not to get married because it was of no significant benefit to me or my partner. I also don't like the institution of marriage and on a personal level wanted to avoid it unless necessary. Without all the social pressures around it, it's just a legal agreement.

If we decided to have children, I would consider marriage then. I would like my partner to have the right to care for them as his own and to use my assets to care for them should anything happen to me, without having to go through any legal trouble.

If for some reason we were to have an opportunity to get huge tax or health benefits with marriage (something we currently wouldn't get), I would consider marriage with a pre-nup, as I would probably want at least some of my assets to go to disabled or elderly family who need them and who I currently help out if I died, but I'd still leave some to my husband.
