Would I let her? I can't make her do anything. That's her choice.

Would she have a significant other waiting when she finished? No.

This.

We can not control other people. We can only control our own behavior.

[–]98769876987698767[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So would you break up with her? Why or why not?

[–]dencryptHate-sex is the best sex2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It depends if she got home with a hidden pirate treasure or not.

[–]namae_nanka5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a cute euphemism for pregnancy.

[–]98769876987698767[S] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why would you break up with her?

[–]LokismokeNon-Red Pill8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

After reading the story posted (which I did not before my original answer), I don't think that sort of travel is inappropriate. It sounds like they will simply be traveling on the plane together, but not really spending any time.

To answer your question though, I think it's inappropriate for a person with a significant other to go on a one on one vacation with someone of the opposite gender other than their s.o. or a family member. I'd also consider it disrespectful of the relationship.

Edit: btw I don't think your title properly conveys the facts of the article posted.

[–]_Dog-1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

With the article mentioning she has a boyfriend who will be waiting for her, what would the article have to gain by making it seems as if she is going to be gallivanting across the globe with a rake? The story is much more pleasant in making the trip appear innocent.

[–]GridReXXit be like that0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah the article didn't make it seem this was a wink wink trip.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I would break up with her if she went, because if I was in her position, I wouldn't take the offer (assuming the person offering is female).

[–]exit_sandmanstill not the MGTOW sandman FFS4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think the same was said at /r/relationships where the story was posted as well.

My take on scenarios like that is usually "you know your relationship is really screwed if /r/relationships gives the same advice /r/theredpill would give."

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think the big thing here is that this is fairly common sense though. Most people would not be comfortable with that specific scenario. This just happens to be an instance where TRP and more mainstream advice intersect.

[–]GridReXXit be like that0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I also think a lot of men wouldn't take it because they knowingly don't trust themselves around women.

As a woman, I don't have that level of distrust in myself when it comes to these things.

I think women are a bit better at resisting temptation. For example we don't get raging hard ons.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Eh, I mean, using a personal example, I do have very good self control, but I would feel like I am disrespecting her if I went on a trip like that.

[–]GridReXXit be like that0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't disagree.

[–]nopbeentheredonethatRed Pill Man0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No the difference is that women think they have better self control. They really don't do better then men, even worst sometime. They rationalize their behaviour so that they have no responsibility in the affair.

In other word (It just happen so it really doesn't count.)

[–]chasethenoise0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not even the fact that she's going with some guy. It could be a solo trip and I'd still break up with her. It's the fact that she's ok with going on this huge adventure without me.

[–]wombatinaburrowfeminist marsupial5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I find it strange that you wouldn't want to go on a special holiday with your SO; but each to their own, I guess.

[–]98769876987698767[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well the guy is giving her a free vacation. Would you break up with your SO if they decided to go on the vacation?

[–]wombatinaburrowfeminist marsupial1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No. I would expect a vacation of my own once he got back though. Not necessarily a big or fancy one; but at least a week of lying on a beach/hiking through the grampians.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't go on such a trip and I'd break up with my boyfriend if he wanted to in a reverse situation....it doesn't seem like a respectful thing to do.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

ahhhh......... poor guy. I would break up with a girl who decided to do this.

Traveling is all about the experience which is mostly about the people you go with and who you meet. If someone isn't willing to make some money of their own so they can have the amazing experience with the one they love most it is a shame but you should move on.

I've seen some shit when I was backpacking, I wouldn't really trust anyone.

[–]98769876987698767[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why would you break up with them?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They want to go on an amazing trip with another guy. If your not worth being the traveling buddy that you can earn it yourself then your relationship is not worth anything. Time to move on she is pretty much giving you a soft break up but a lot of guys won't even know it til they get strung along for god knows how long.

[–]antakip1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If she'd do something like this, with a guy she doesn't know and obviously more expectations from the guy I'd tell her to fuck off. She can do it, but the relationship would be over.

On the other hand if she'd travel with a group of friends or alone and I don't have the chance to come along I wouldn't really care. I prefer to travel together, but I've travelled alone before as well so why can't she?

[–]Those_Who_RemainIrrelevant Homosexual0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is mostly what my opinion is as well.

[–]wazzup987Blue pill, you can beat me black & blue for it later[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Depends on the relationship dynamic. If it poly dynamic i would i might thrilled about it but i would, if it a mono dynamic then no.

[–]buarthaDelights in homosexuality1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In general, if they'd been friends a while, sure. If he was just some randomer she'd met recently, I'd be less impressed, and her decision could potentially affect our relationship depending on the circumstances.

If it were like the case in the article, it would really depend on the strength of our relationship. For a relatively new one where we still hadn't developed a bond of trust, I might be put off. If we'd been together a good long time and I knew my partner's boundaries and knew them well enough that I could put faith in their judgement, I wouldn't object (much.)

Doesn't really sound like she plans on even seeing this guy outside of the plane.

Either way that's a hard trip to turn down. Free and the world!

And the guy giving the ticket away doesn't sound creepy.

That said I would be uncomfortable if some chick offered this to my boyfriend.

It would depend on hot the chick was and if she were giving "steal your man" vibes.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is all a perception call. Do you believe that you can be deceived?

[–]GridReXXit be like that2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sure. But I've never worried about cheating with my SO. He hasn't given me a reason not to trust him.

If he had a history of that I would flat out say no or offer an ultimatum.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

this and the comment above pretty much sums up my thoughts on it too, especially when i put myself in the place of the trip recipient (as far as intentions or commitment go).

i don't have a reason to distrust my SO, and if it were me being offered the trip i wouldn't have any interest in hooking up or betraying my SO either.

besides, i would be too busy exploring new countries for that, even if i were single. the trip does sound pretty incredible.

EDIT: i hadn't had my morning coffee, apparently; i didn't realize that the question was directed specifically at men (not women) in heterosexual relationships. i do still stand by what i said, though.

[–]winndixie-3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Doesn't really sound like she plans on even seeing this guy outside of the plane.

Women never sound like they enjoy sex.

Either way that's a hard trip to turn down. Free and the world!

I could turn down a trip like that pretty easily.

And the guy giving the ticket away doesn't sound creepy.

Uhm, neither do charming sociopaths.

That said I would be uncomfortable if some chick offered this to my boyfriend.

So is it understandable that a guy would be uncomfortable if another guy offered this to his girlfriend. Or is he so "secure" that he shouldn't mind?

It would depend on hot the chick was and if she were giving "steal your man" vibes.

So you feel like screening the chick beforehand. Not controlling behavior at all. Btw, is it okay to call girls "chicks" now?

I never liked the phrase "hamstering", but I am always amazed when it happens.

[–]GridReXXit be like that1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not sure what's your issue? It's okay to call grown women girls, but you're upset I said chick?

How I am hamstering. I'm saying I would have an issue with it. Where do I say it's wrong for the guy to have an issue. I'm looking. Nope never said that.

I love when people make up nonexistent arguments for the sake of stroking their own dick. Keep stroking boy.

[–]winndixie0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do I seem upset? I asked a question. I repeat: is it okay to call girls chicks now?

Here's how you are hamstering. I don't believe you would know shje doesn't sound like she plans on seeing this guy outside of the plane. You that say that so she doesn't seem like she wants sex, helping your womankind. No woman will "give off the impression" of seeing this guy when she has a boyfriend. Even if she wants to. Especially not on a publicized article.

So when there's a free trip around the world that jeopardizes your relationship, it's hard to turn down? Hmm...

You didn't say it's wrong, you couldn't answer my question.

I'm saying I would have an issue with it.

And I agree.

I love when people make up nonexistent arguments for the sake of stroking their own dick. Keep stroking boy.

Every statement is an argument. Come over and help me out ;)

Absolutely - I'd let my girl go on vacations with several guys - her father, her brother, her male cousins and her uncles too!

You mean would I stay with her?

As long we're cool with fucking other people. I'm not going to be delusional enough to think that she's not going to fuck this dude.

[–]ReginleiferOnly Zombies want female brains-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is a situation where even I wouldn't go even if my so was okay with. It. For all the talk about caring about peoples feelings. The Bp sure seems okay with. Telling men to suck it up.

Fuck I wouldn't. Even go to an optional employees retreat if my so asked me not to go. I think sos are entitled to make those kinds of demands funny enough.....male or female.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not much you can do to stop her, but I'd be moving on with my life in another direction as soon as she walked out the door. I don't consider myself insecure, but this is a step too far for anyone to put up with. Even if he doesn't the relationship will never be the same and die a slow death. Might as well get it over with.
