Wise-sounding advice can come from different places and still end up conflicting and confusing the fuck out of a lot of people.

The financial/investment equivalent of trp's sage advice "don't be captain save-a-ho" is: "Don't try and catch a falling knife." (Don't try to buy into stocks/companies that have been free-falling.)

Sounds wise. Sounds like good advice.

At the same time, people tell you to sell high and buy low, which implies that you do have to buy stocks that have been falling. Also wise.

Even in the movie that inspired his metaphor, the red pill only pealed back one layer of abstraction. There was no ultimate truth revealed, only heuristics that can help simplify certain layers. Heuristics can conflict and be confusing.

I like this subreddit more than TRP or TBP. People are much more dismissive there.
