I am currently an art school dropout. It's very hard for me to get back back out in the dating world in general because I feel like being a male artist is like a giant beta trait. (also dealing with BPD.

I love at. I love making it I've always loved writing and drawing and when i was a kid and a teen it was easier to identify with being an artist. I used t draw everyday but now I'm in the college/dating scene. I feel like I'm pretty low on the bar of what most women would find attractive.

Especially being a comic artist.(Comic geek and virgin, stereotypes and perceptions etc) I feel like beta traits are great for the art world(creating a piece or story that conveys a messege and invokes emotion.) But when it comes to attracting women I feel like I have to turn into whole other person. I feel like all my art piece are like this dark secret I have to never let out.

Here's an example:

1:Most kids who love sports will most likely do everything they can to play that sport. They practice it. They talk about it all the time. They completely immerse themselves into that culture.

2:Same thing with art kids.: They constantly doodle, even in class. They practice all the time, talk about it all the time. Completely immerse themselves in the culture.

But when I look at which type of male of the 2 above, I think mst women would choose the athletic guy.(I'm generalizing) You see it in culture, dating sites, magazines, tv. Athleticism in itself is gender neutral but its so ingrained in us to associate it with masculinity or boys stuff.

And the irony is art is also gender neutral. Hell even more than sports as most men are physically stronger than women, but anybody man or woman can be a great artist. But art is considered soft, sensitive, using feelings, which are associated with femininity.

My fear is that if I land a date, I'm naturally going to talk about my hobbies and interests and goals which are heavily fueled by art, and a girl might be turned off by that.

My drive for making art has diminished. I just can't shake the feeling every time I put pencil to paper I'm just lowering my SMV...and I hate that. I want to go back when I could just chill in my room and have the world at my fingertips. But it feel like I have to pick between being a god artist or dropping it and focus on some activity that is attractive to women.
