Stoicism is so over fetishized on this website. There are better philosophies than being immovable. I also can’t stand how the practitioners act like they’re gods above human pettiness.

A lot of people have confused stoicism with simply not feeling, however in my opinion, it's not that true stoics don't feel, it's that they understand their emotions are a teacher and a tool, and neither good nor bad. Emotions can be used to acheive greatness, or to destroy. Stoicism can harness emotion but it is never controlled by it. Stoics understand what they are doing and why. They do not simply react. If their actions are driven by emotion, it is because they have considered their options and found this to be the best course.

Things like good and bad are value judgements. They have no place in rational thinking. Even the idea of ethics is a bit of a trap. A decision either advances a particular goal or it does not. There are no alternatives. A stoic who has cultivated love, compassion, and empathy, will tend to naturally behave in a way others see as ethical, but they do not do it because it is ethical, they do it because it builds the values they cherish most.

The think about your average red pill I've realized is that he is, through and through, fits the description of a beta male. The red pill will turn him from that into a sociopath, not into an alpha male. Then you throw in some materialism and you have a perfect degenerate to serve someone's agenda to harm society. You couldn't write the script any better.

In the furore about toxic masculinity, I think it's worth talking about some of the great things about masculinity. I think stoicism as youve described here is one of them. There are times being emotional is good, and other times it isn't and stoicism is a good attribute.

In emergency situation, the real personality will come out. This is why we have something so called, "natural born leader". People who can be cool as cucumber in the face of impending doom and them who panic like headless chickens.

TRPers want to be like the cool cucumbers, but the real cool cucumbers never needed TRP in the first place.
