We do everything by groups” and believe “that we hear the voice of God most clearly” through “conversation with others” and “passionate debate.

Funny, God has provided us His Word, the Bible, to hear His voice clearly. But yet she chooses the "conversation and debate" of human beings instead.

Is Christianity the only way to heaven?

“No, God’s not a Christian. I mean, we are . . . For me, the Christian tradition is the way to understand God and my relationship with the world and other humans . . . But I’m not about to say what God can and cannot do in other ways and with other spiritual experiences.”

Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." So what she is teaching is directly opposed to what Christ said.

“I really do not overly concern myself with issues of salvation, especially salvation of other folks — that’s God’s job description and not my own.”

True, we do not determine the salvation status of others. But Jesus did give us many examples to help us know whether we could reasonably assume that another person had the Holy Spirit within them and was living for God. Here is one such example:

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

And then in the second article, we see what this is really about:

Kershner begins her reforming of the church by first attacking the doctrine of God, telling the Chicago Sun, that we should get “beyond this idol of maleness that we’ve constructed both for the divine as well as for clergy.” Of course, an idol is a manufactured image, but God does reveal himself as male (although God the Father is spirit and has no flesh, this is how he identifies Himself to us). It’s beyond perverse to refer to a revealed attribute of God as an “idol.”

Why should we view God as female? Well, it’s so that little girls can become pastors, with Kershner saying, ““I wanted to make sure that little girls knew that God could call them to be pastors, too.”

I suppose women and little girls can do whatever they want these days, right? But when they change the clear instructions and directives laid out in the Bible to suit their new definitions, they are no longer following in the true spirit of what the Book says anyway. To call it Christianity at this point would be to redefine the term completely.

Is Christianity the only way to heaven?

This is framed all wrong. Christianity isn't a way to heaven. Christ is. But that is just splitting hairs. The fact is that God has given only one prerequisite for getting to heaven - Be completely sinless. If you are completely sinless then you will get into heaven.

[–]rocknrollchuckMod | 50M | Married 11 yrs3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You are correct - Christ is the only way to heaven. Period. But that's what Christianity is (at least as it's defined in the Bible): the process of being born again by trusting in Christ and repenting of your sins.

So what is trusting in Christ? It is different than simply believing in Him. The difference between belief and trust can be explained this way:

There was a tightrope performer years ago who stretched a tightrope over the Grand Canyon. He then took a wheelbarrow and proceeded to ferry his family members back and forth across the Canyon in the wheelbarrow. Each time he returned, the crowd cheered! One man in particular was very enthusiastic and shouted his praises loudly upon each return. So he came over to the man and asked him "Do you believe I can do it again?" to which the man replied "Sure do!" He asked him "Do you really believe with all of your heart that I can do it again?" to which the man replied "I not only believe you can do it, I KNOW you can do it!". So the performer told him "Then get in the wheelbarrow!" The man sputtered and told him "No thanks."

So you see, he believed he could do it but was not willing to place his trust in the performer. And so it is with us trusting Christ for our salvation: many believe it, but are unwilling to put their complete trust in Him and "get in the wheelbarrow." We need to realize that if we are going to trust Jesus, He has the right to take us places we may prefer not to go. Many people want Jesus to bless their plans instead of following Him and obeying His plan. We want comfort, routine, security. We need to realize that when we serve the risen Lord, we are on the most dangerous mission on the planet! We are fighting against the devil and his demons, as well as being in direct opposition to all of sinful humanity. We MUST be obedient to be in a position to be used by God. Many people who call themselves Christians are living apathetic, neutral, compromising lives of near-total defeat.

Trusting in Christ goes hand in hand with repentance. What is repentance then? It is turning from living for yourself to living for God instead. Here’s an analogy:

Let's say a married man cheats on his wife and they separate. After a month he calls her up and says 'You know, I want to say I'm sorry and ask for your forgiveness. Can we try to reconcile?' She says 'Ok, come on over.' He shows up at the house and rings the doorbell. She opens the door and there stands her husband...with his mistress still on his arm!"

Did he truly repent? He said he was sorry and asked for forgiveness, right? (what the world thinks repentance means) But obviously that is not true repentance. True repentance involves a turning from sin. It means going in the opposite direction as much as you know how. Imagine if you are driving in a car and all of a sudden you realize that you have been going in the wrong direction for the last hour. Is it enough to just realize it, or change your mind about it? No, you have to stop, figure out which way to go, turn around, and head in the right direction. So it is with us when we truly repent.

The fact is that God has given only one prerequisite for getting to heaven - Be completely sinless. If you are completely sinless then you will get into heaven.

Romans 3:22-23 says "22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"

All means ALL. So there is NO getting into heaven without Christ.

Good ol Charles Blondin.

[–]SeamusAwl0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

All means ALL. So there is NO getting into heaven without Christ.

That is true, that is why I said being sinless is the only prerequisite. Christ was the only one who was sinless.

[–]rocknrollchuckMod | 50M | Married 11 yrs0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. We're saying the same thing in two different ways.

[–]WhitifiedBlue Target BAZOOKA2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yes, so the only relevant question is: does she have Christ?

Well... who knows, really...

But she definitely serves the Feminine Imperative. So I guess an argument can be made that you can't serve two masters.

[–]Red-CuriousMod | 34M | Married 11 yrs2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. If a person uses their faith to push any agenda other than the one God gave us, I'd argue they're serving a different master.

[–]WhitifiedBlue Target BAZOOKA1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well by that logic, 99% of Christians today serve a different master. That's how many serve the Feminine Imperative

edit: not that I disagree with you

[–]Red-CuriousMod | 34M | Married 11 yrs0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True. Though I do think there's a difference between intentional service and unwittingly passive. Otherwise we'd all have thousands of masters.

But words matter. Although it may seem like splitting hairs, this distinction is highly relevant. This word choice makes the tacit implication to the rest of society that the church - and even God himself - places identification with an institution as its primary aim.

To add to my previous comment, and more to /u/Rollo-Tomassi, this is one of the stark dangers in how this woman is thinking and communicating. It shows that her own soteriological framework is centered around self-identification and not around Christ. But it also shows that her misguided framework can affect how society understands the Gospel itself. When we detract from Christ himself in favor of an institutionalized label, the church very much works against God's interests in advancing the Gospel and only promotes the interests of advancing the label.

The fact that she answered "no" doesn't change the impact that this framing of the question has toward adopting an institutionalized view of the "church" to begin with, as compared to the actual spiritual bond that Christ meant when he prayed "that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." Remove this spiritual bond for an institutionalized identification and we also lose the "so that" part of the passage.

[–]Rian_Stone0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

She runs a church, and you don't. So clearly no one cares what you think. /s

I'm curious, what else ya got? Genuinely curious. My grandfather would have been to confused by this nonsense, and he preached for decades.

Well, the Bible has much to say about women and their place in the church:

1 Corinthians 11:3-10 But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ. 4 Every man who has something on his head while praying or prophesying, disgraces his head. 5 But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying, disgraces her head; for she is one and the same with her whose head is shaved. 6 For if a woman does not cover her head, let her also have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head. 7 For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8 For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man; 9 for indeed man was not created for the woman’s sake, but woman for the man’s sake. 10 Therefore the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.

1 Corinthians 14:33-35 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 34 Let the women keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but let them subject themselves, just as the Law also says. 35 And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.

1 Timothy 2:9-14 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

The Bible is also very clear about wives submitting to their husbands:

1 Peter 3:1-6 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

Ephesians 5:22-24 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Genesis 3:16 16 To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

Colossians 3:18 18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

Titus 2:3-5 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 4 that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored.

Rollo’s post indicated he did not want to approach this from the angle of whether she is a True Christian, so my answer was tailored to meet that criteria. Since I am responding to you now, Rian, let me put this out there for your consideration: This has EVERYTHING to do with whether or not she is a True Christian. You see, True Christians are those that have trusted in Christ and repented of their sins. I shared this in a comment elsewhere, I will share it again here so we are both on the same page with our definitions:

So by that definition, the only True Christians are those that have trusted in Christ and repented of their sins. The evidence of that is shown in the new life they lead. That life will adhere to the commands of God and Christ as they are laid out in God’s Word, the Bible. At least as much as possible – Christians who are born again have a new spirit and a new mind, but they still live in their sinful flesh. That is why they still sin. A sinner saved by grace, as your grandfather would most likely have put it, should be trying every day to live for God and His commands, but falling short.

When you see a person who “claims” to be a Christian, but is living totally contrary to what the Word of God says – yeah, they might just be a sinner saved by grace who needs God’s help to overcome some things and get their feet planted on the right path. But it is more likely that they are a false convert – one who calls themselves a Christian but lives like the world. Jesus addressed this in Matthew 7:

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

If you read both articles, I’m sure you can see that what this woman says is pretty much the OPPOSITE of what the Bible says. It’s not just that she’s a sinner saved by grace who has made some sinful mistakes. She has set herself and her “ministry” up in DIRECT opposition to what the Word of God says. She will be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, unfortunately, unless she repents and places her full trust in Christ, obeying His commands.

And what of her flock? They seem content to follow, and it's not as if I see any lowly carpenters running in there flipping tables.

[–]rocknrollchuckMod | 50M | Married 11 yrs4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Blue Pill men are content to follow the Feminist Imperative, too.

But they flip over tables in anger because their wives won't have sex with them.

[–]Rian_Stone2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The anger to point out a grievance

The lack of a will to power in order to fix the grievance

It's almost as if that minister isn't the problem, but just the symptom. the impotence of her flock is the problem.

[–]Red-CuriousMod | 34M | Married 11 yrs2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're absolutely right. But we're not necessarily talking about alpha men who became impotent to put a woman in charge. We're dealing with a woman who wanted to be a leader and impotent men are drawn to join that kind of a flock. They were already impotent. She was already pursuing a leadership role. They happened to find each other. This is how society works. People of similar conviction flock together.

[–]rocknrollchuckMod | 50M | Married 11 yrs0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The minister is only a symptom of the true problem, which, as you have rightly pointed out, is the impotence of her flock. Were that flock truly born again, living for Christ, reading the Book they claim to believe (and believing what it actually says), and searching for the actual truth (instead of what they "think" is right), there would be no woman ministers. They would follow the commands laid out in the Bible.

[–]Red-CuriousMod | 34M | Married 11 yrs1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Good stuff ... But I will note an offset to the Matthew 7 "I never knew you" vibe you're going for here: Philippians 1 ... "It is true that some preach Christ out of envy ... [they] preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely ... But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way Christ is preached, whether from false motives or true. And because of this I rejoice."

I'm not saying she is preaching Christ. She might be preaching a false gospel entirely. I don't know. But I'm not quick to condemn ministries that Paul may have rejoiced at.

Good point!

I've actually done a lot of writing on the "No True Scotsman" argument, which only applies if there is no objective definition of a "Scotsman." If Scotish law outlined a clear definition of a Scotsman, then one could use that phrase quite objectively and point to the law that proves it. Someone else could come along and subjectively disagree with that law, but they're still not getting their Scottish citizenship if they don't otherwise qualify under the terms of that law.

God has authority to decide who is a "real Christian" and not. He told us his standard in a written code, the core soteriological principles of which are commonly agreed upon by virtually all branches of the faith (ex. the Nicene Creed). If someone says, "I really do not overly concern myself with issues of salvation," there's good cause to question whether or not she objectively falls within that standard (although I'll refrain from making any judgement on that point, per your request).

Let's assume she's a legit Christian (not to imply she isn't). Let's also assume there's no biblical issue with her being a pastor and that questioning the appropriateness of her theology/biblical interpretation is off the table (again, removing the "no true Scotsman issue from the conversation).

A lot of what she's saying is good. Complacency is deadly. Doubt is a necessary accompaniment to faith. Great. But the women who were moderating Athol Kay's forum also had some good things to say at times. Nevertheless, we see how that went down. The practical harm on a structural level of her being in the position she's in outweighs the good that she might otherwise communicate, even if we assume she was only communicating authentic, genuine truth - even if it were red pilled truth, at that.

To be clear, I recently wrote on the hierarchy of theology > praxeology > philosophy. If we remove the theological issues (avoiding the NTS argument), at a praxeological level we still reach the same conclusion as theology: society functions best when God leads men and men lead their wives. This works on a purely praxeological level even without theology because God designed the world to work that way.

When we put a wife in a position of spiritual authority over her husband (noting that this pastor's husband attends her church and is not in a higher position of leadership than her), we run afoul of everything the red pill knows to be true, even from a secular vantage point.

When we extrapolate this authority not only over her own husband, but upon an entire congregation as well, it empowers other women in the church to (1) follow in her example of spiritual leadership over her husband, and (2) reinvigorate their feminist tendencies, heightening the BB side of their hypergamous desires on a cultural level within the church. Not only so, but onlookers from outside the church are then given greater justification to amplify hypergamy's BB play on a societal level because "even the church agrees now too."

But I'm not even concerned about that part of it. The world will do what it's going to do. What's more concerning is the impact it has on the men themselves. Despite the cumulative impact these types of women have on the church and society as a whole, and the way this feeds into their dominant position over men, they still want an alpha to screw them. That desire isn't going away, and it's been proven time and again among countless feminists. But they've just convinced men on an institutionalized level that they must be subservient to a woman because she has a position of spiritual authority, which presumably comes from God - and how dare you even think about defying someone appointed by God!

No, the man must beta-up. He must submit to his woman pastor, who proves that it's fine for him to submit to his woman wife, and that he might as well submit to every other woman in society as well ... at least if there's a chance that he wants sex anytime soon.

Of course, if we agree that women are sexually responsive and not spontaneous, then any structure that stifles a man's innate authority to initiate with his wife is also going to stifle his sexuality as a whole - because she's simply not going to initiate spontaneously as often as he would.

Let me back up for a second. If women are seen as viable candidates for spiritual leadership and men are being influenced toward a beta mindset by virtue of seeing a woman in authority over them every Sunday morning, it follows that most men will defer to their wives as spiritual leaders by default. It becomes the path of least resistance and the most natural directive, given that the family is subservient to the church and the church is subservient to a woman. So, we have a a family with a beta husband, led by the wife on both a pragmatic and spiritual level.

In such a household, where will the man find his authority to initiate sexually with his wife? Perhaps his patience runs dry and his balls are blue enough in more ways than one that he finally makes a move on her. But now she is empowered to deny him. And if she is sexually responsive, what is she responsive to? Certainly nothing he has to offer. After all, he's not offering her anything she couldn't get elsewhere by flashing a smile, or if the man is "lucky enough" ... something more.

In the end, if we allow women to take the lead in the church, men become an interchangeable resource both within the church and outside. He has no value left to contribute. That's not to imply that his leadership is the only value he has to contribute, as the cultural model shows that women can, in fact, be effective leaders. The issue is that desire is dead. His alpha-ness is what he was contributing - and it is something women crave. But in this model, sex would become purely a matter of procreation whenever the wife decides she wants a child. As much as he may slobber over her, she will not be slobbering back.

Of course, I am speaking predominantly philosophically in all of this - suggesting what would logically follow from one chain of events to the next. But we know that at least the foundation of this rings true even on a praxeological level. We see enough relationships in the church follow this path to know what would certainly result. Theology is, in my view, the only pillar still supporting healthy marriages. Even with that pillar in place, we still see many marriages crumbling to what I'm suggesting. Remove theology from the equation (which is what the secular world wants, including secular RP) and I wonder how quickly and widespread my predictions would become reality.

This is why I believe secular RP is doomed without God - without RPC fortifying the pillar of theology in its appropriate context.

But let me address one more point: that this would kill the faith entirely. I have said on RPC many times before that God intends the physical things of this world to parallel spiritual truths. Physical reproductive acts are paralleled with spiritual reproduction, which is evangelism. Physical child-rearing (i.e. leading in the home) is paralleled with spiritual child-rearing, which is discipleship.

If we train people on a physical level to abandon male headship for female headship, and sexuality in the home is thereby stifled because the wife is not attracted to her beta bucks husband, then the God-given pattern for spiritual reproduction is equally stifled and the compulsion toward evangelism is lost. It's no surprise, then, that this pastor you reference notes: "I really do not overly concern myself with issues of salvation, especially salvation of other folks" (note how the article author bolded the wrong section?). What happens after a generation or two with extremely stifled evangelism? The faith dies. Why do you think God set things up the way he did?

And if men are not the ones leading the family in the upbringing of their children, not only do we have the practical impact of these problems propounded on the next generation, but we also lose the model for discipleship that Jesus gave us in favor of female strategies of child-rearing, which have already started to take root even among male thinking simply because the secular culture has pushed that agenda for so long. And what happens if the next generation isn't trained rightly? The faith will die. Why do you think God set things up the way he did?

Of course, I have not even gotten into much of the content of what she teaches ... but these are my thoughts nonetheless.

EDIT: I should note that most of this is based on her statement that she wants to reform the church. I'm simply musing on what would happen if she were successful in that goal.

if we agree that women are sexually responsive and not spontaneous

Rollo, in his article Christian Dread made the statement that women are actually both:

Make your wife unintentionally uncomfortable. Sexuality is spontaneous chemical reaction between two parties, not a process of negotiation. By its very nature passionate, desired sex is a result of being uncomfortable, uncertain and urgent. It might be an uncomfortable truth to most Christian men, but the best, most memorable, married sex you have won’t be the result of a pre-planned “Date Night” where you stage manage every event and nuance in advance; it will be the rough, hard-core, make-up sex you never thought you’d have after a near breakup inspired by the anxiety of the thought of never having you around anymore.

Some of the best sex is not planned.

Agreed!

I'm very spontaneous and initiate often. I have to taper down my sex drive.

That's good to hear, I'm sure your husband is happy about that.

I have to disagree with you.

I'll clarify: I was agreeing with Rollo that women are both responsive AND spontaneous.

My sharing of the article was not an implicit endorsement of the contents, I was simply agreeing with the premise that women are both sexually responsive and spontaneous. I don't agree with most of the rest of the article either.

Rollo has one of the most in-depth grasps of the male/female dynamic that I've seen - from a secular, Red Pill perspective. He is just starting to learn about the differences between that perspective and the "one flesh" unity that God fosters in marriage. "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit." 1 Corinthians 2:14

Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm NOT SAYING that Rollo does not have the Spirit of God - that is between him and God. I'm saying that his understanding of this dynamic seems to come solely from a secular viewpoint at this time.

That's not spontaneous, though. That's reacting to the unstable environment the guy is fostering (whether intentionally or not). He creates sexual tension. She reacts.

If he's a supplicating beta, how often do you think he'll be creating that sexual tension as compared with trying to avoid tension hoping that will increase sexuality?

To be clear, it's certainly a scale. Women can and are spontaneous at times. But it's maybe 95% responsive and 5% spontaneous.

On the title of your post alone, emotionalism in the church makes this clear enough. I can't count the number of times I have watched people confuse their emotions with the Holy Spirit using phrases like: "I FEEL like God is telling me ___." Of course, by "God" they mean the Holy Spirit is guiding them in what they're saying.

In the days of old, the church was organized not by feelings, but by understanding. That is why Paul said in Philippians 1, "I pray that your love will abound more and more with gooey feelings in knowledge and depth of insight." Notice how "love" in the church is no longer based on knowledge and understanding and application of godliness. Instead, we get people like /u/GargantuaBlarg29 who have bought into the feminized notion that "Love is a feeling".

And what is the function of the Holy Spirit? What does John 16:13 say? "When the Spirit of gushy feelings truth comes, he will guide you into having the best gushy feelings ever all truth."

Or what about John 14:21? "The one who has blissful feelings toward me has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me."

So yes, the Holy Spirit has been exchanged for feelings. Men are proficient in knowledge, truth, understanding, application. Women are proficient in feelings. We've replaced masculinity in Scripture with what better suits the feminine. I can't imagine a female pastor whose goal is to push feminist ideologies is going to do any good here. She will not be restoring our understanding of the Spirit to that of knowledge and truth and understanding. She will be reinforcing the notion that "feelings" dictate truth and that "feelings" are how we know when God is talking to us. This is already evident in that she looks to conversations with others as her primary source of truth over Scripture itself.

You should be clearer here: "understanding" in the intellectual sense.

Female pastors are all too happy to organize their church by understanding too... understanding each others' feeeeelings, that is

Fair enough

Non sequitur...the post you linked to we're discussing whether love is a choice or not, and whether a man can simply choose to love his wife if he currently isnt. Your line of reasoning is defining love as based in logical understanding (not empathetic understanding, mind you) and knowledge. Which I don't necessarily agree with.

But the bigger picture problem is simply that love has many and no real definition. I know and define it, as described in my dream, as a feeling of receiving infinite value (comfort, compassion, forgiveness, meaning, etc) with no feeling of a need for reciprocation. If you feel love for someone, as OP in the post no longer did, I define it as feeling compelled to give that value and not expect reciprocation. OP didn't feel that way any more. He couldn't choose to feel it. He was feeling either an unfulfilled need of reciprocation or that she didn't deserve this infinite value.

But as the post also says...love as a feeling doesn't make sense. The world doesn't work that way. And even if you did love in that idealized manner, women do not. So even if it was a choice, it's a dumb choice. Love being a feeling doesn't give women power, but the belief in love or, the belief women can love you back like you know love, does.

So I would simply say the belief in love as a viable model for a relationship is feminized.

From a secular perspective, everything you said makes perfect sense. I'll just leave it at that. Otherwise, we do see eye to eye on at least the last sentence.

First she is a female pastor. nuff said. Not that female's cannot pastor other females. But the fact is she is pastoring men, and Paul advised against that because women were created for men. It breaks God's hierarchy of man being the head of his family.

Someone I respect once said he saw no problem with a female pastor as long as there was a male head over her. His rationale was that she would only be a voice through which the message he wanted taught would be communicated, and therefore the teaching originates with him and he is responsible, not her, as she is merely a tool being used by the head pastor to recite things for him.

What are your thoughts on this view? I'm guessing you already know my position, but the concept still intrigues me all the same.

To add a bit more, he questioned me deeper:

  1. Would it be okay if a man wrote a script to a teaching video that involved a woman as one of the characters?

  2. What if instead of a video it was live performance in front of everyone ... can the girl participate then?

  3. What if instead of a teaching skit he just wrote out a transcript of the sermon he wanted to deliver and had her read it word for word in front of everyone?

  4. What if instead of word for word he gave her all of the main talking points and she agreed not to deviate from the teaching he laid out, but she had freedom to pick which words to use to relay those lessons?

  5. What if he gave her a concept and said, "Here's what I want to teach them, now you figure out how to communicate it, then do it?

I thought I knew where this pattern was going - to try to get me to admit something by easing me into it ... but his real point was to ask: how are you drawing the line? What verse says that one of these is okay and the other isn't? Or are you doing like the Pharisees did by making up your own arbitrary line and imposing it on others?

[–]WhitifiedBlue Target BAZOOKA2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Classic Complementarian gaslighting. As evidenced later on:

Or are you doing like the Pharisees did...

Try asking those questions in the 1st-2nd century Church. Or any church before the 1800s, you'll be laughed out the place. But anyone tries to enforce 1 Tim 2:12 today, you'll be compared to Pharisees. Unbelievable!

Perhaps it would be wiser to ask him where he draws his line.

Judging from his actions though... what a coincidence! Just so happens that his line is the path of least resistance, where he can give the World the impression that on the surface there is a women teaching, she's even called a "pastor", but deep down he can pat himself on the back since "she's just a messenger".

A lot of ink has been spilled over how to not obey the Bible.

Give me your take on this "Pastor"

why is the pastor female

who's bitch is this

[–]Gaffer1976-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If she was ever baptized under the trinitarian formula, with water, she is a Christian. A bad, misinformed Christian perhaps, but a Christian nonetheless. Other than that, what is there to say. She is a material heretic, a feminist, a left wing ideologue pretending to be a pastor or souls. She is a liar. Anyway, Paul said let your wimmen be silent in church.

[–]SeamusAwl0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Here is an interesting question... Is she blaspheming the Holy Spirit by claiming that God isn't male or that Christ isn't the only way to get to heaven?

[–]Gaffer19761 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I was always taught the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is an ongoing stubborn refusal to accept Gods grace, and a bloody-minded attitude, a refusal to acknoweldge ones need of salvation, unto death.

[–]Red-CuriousMod | 34M | Married 11 yrs1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've used a similar definition, but without the "until death" part. I do believe that people can callous their hearts during life to a degree that repentance becomes impossible for them or, as in the case of Pharaoh (who hardened his own heart several times first) where God finally seals his hardness.
