Hey guys

Currently I'm living in a hostel with 30 other people, we are all working on a farm together in Aus. I met a girl in this hostel who I got along very well with, things escalated and she became my FWB.

A few weeks ago a new guy joins our hostel, this arrogant french dude. FWB sees this as an opportunity to shit test me.

Friday night comes and we are all drinking. I show up late and I notice that my FWB is wearing a much sexier outfit than usual. I also notice that this french dude is sitting beside her and eyeing her up intensely, she is enjoying the attention and giggling a lot. When she is walking past him she will do things like touch his shoulder etc.

This dude knows I am seeing her, he won't look at me at all. he is throwing all his attention at my FWB and she is loving it. This made me feel pretty grim. In this moment I froze up and did nothing, I should have got up and left.

One of the other girls present even told them that they need to get a room. This was humiliating as everybody knew I was seeing her. Eventually she warmed up to me and put her legs on mine. He left immediately.

A few weeks later he even asked her to watch a movie with him, she respectfully declined. Now she follows him on Insta and likes all his shit.

The thing about this situation that surprised me the most is how little of a fuck this guy gives for anything but himself. I am literally living with him and will be for at least another month, but he wants to be enemies for no good reason. How should I handle this?

What should I have done about this? What would you do differently? Why are some guys such cunts?
