I’m 28 years old and I am getting a divorce. We met in college and we were together for 3 years, married for 1 and I finally have come to my senses. I finally realized that I was incredibly unhappy and was being emotionally abused. I just thought maybe she would change her ways and we could finally start to save up for our future but she never got on the same page as me. I was beginning to have a very negative outlook on life and I was thinking really dark thoughts.

She finally pushed me too far and this last fight we had and I told her she needed to leave. After days of trying to convince me I was the love of her life I stood firm and she left... She packed up all her clothes and I let her take pretty much all the furniture. I didn’t want that crap anyway.

Already a few days into being alone and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted and I am really optimistic about the future. I’ve already set up a new bank account and am using an app to track my finances. This is the year I get my life on track.

If you’re unhappy you can change your situation. I thought for years this is how life was supposed to be. We just live and we are unhappy.... Fuck that.

Edit: Wow thank you for all the support everyone. And thanks for the silver that’s my first one.

To follow up... no kids, no house, no combined debt. All we bought together was a car that she is going to keep but I just have to get it out of my name. I think we will be able to do a dissolution of marriage.
