It's bitch work, and that's precisely why I pay people to do it.

I don't want to have to deal with my laundry. It doesn't serve me to have to sort it, do it, fold it, press and iron what needs that, etc. It's boring, I don't like doing it, and I want to do other things.

If I had a wife, I'd expect her to do it as part of simplifying my life in return for access to material wealth and security for our young, but marriage 1.0 is dead, and I've had a plate ruin a really nice sweater I got from my Grandma.

So I pay to get it picked up, done, and delivered. I don't have to think about anything related to laundry, ever, and I always have clean, laundered clothing and sheets and towels.

I've never changed the oil in my car in my life. I don't care to. I pay someone to do it for me. Guess I'm not a man. I'll hand my penis in tomorrow.

I don't see anything wrong with doing it yourself. Or paying someone to do it. Someone else knows how, has the tools and the shop, has a job, and will do it for a few bucks. Big deal. I'm not sorry.

First off, EVERY driver should be able to check and add fluids, and fill and change a tire. These are basic, necessary skills. That said, everyone should understand their skills and limits, and when to hand things off to a professional.

Car is a status symbol or extension of self/phallus, that is just supposed to work. $20 is too much for an oil change; would rather sell the car than spend more than this amount on any repair
Treats mechanics as beneath him, only patronizes shops that are a synonym for "quick" or "cheap" then wonders aloud why he can never find a good mechanic as he jumps from shop to shop.
Spends a lot of time asking (mostly dipshit) questions that are obvious shit tests; in the end decides to do only the bare minimum after mixing and matching job estimates a dozen ways.
Confrontational, distrustful attitude; first expects repairs to be started- and completed- at once; failing that, expects a ride to East Jesus, then a return ride when repairs are complete.
Tries and fails to AMOG the experts in their own home domain. Dishonest mechanics play him and win, honest ones fire him as a customer.

Beta Bitch

Drives a hand-me-down, often from a relative
Never had the budget for a private automobile and never seems to. Car was behind the 8-ball when he got it, and he never catches up
Car is a utility object to be used up then replaced, no connection to it at all
Confrontational, blaming attitude. Mechanics are taking advantage of his poor whiny ass, according to him.
Not only doesn't have a ride or a plan, NOBODY in his life wants to pick him up. Usually leaves with car if it can't be worked on right away, often never to return.

Budget after the fact for major repairs.
Car is utilitarian and necessary to them, and they know it

Always can catch a ride or rental, but never learn arrange it in advance or to park out of the way when arriving.

Drive either an Image or Utilitarian type of vehicle
Expect it to run longer with less maintenance than actually necessary
Can become quite emotionally attached to their vehicle. Often name it, and cry when it breaks for the last time. This seldom drives them to necessary maintenance and repairs, however strong the emotional connection.
Will continue to drive an obviously malfunctioning vehicle until a minor repair or quart of needed fluid destroys the entire engine. Men seldom do this! Stereotype upheld by daily reality in the shop.
Usually pleasant to deal with, whether housewives or bulldykes. Certain executive types can be real cuntellas to deal with.
Susceptible to ad and sales gimmicks BUT more likely to ask pertinent questions unlike Fake Alphas and Beta Bitches, contrary to stereotypes.
Choose shops based on location near shopping rather than competence
Choose repairs based on how long they will take that day, based on errands scheduled instead of vehicular realities
Can almost always get a ride, which must drop them back off at an early hour

Women (Sigma)

The 3% of women whose fathers taught them about cars, AND the lessons stuck
Act like Alpha as Fuck customers
Often the most savvy repair shop consumers and vehicle maintainers
Don't usually do the work themselves at this point, but maintain their fluid levels better than most men
Often drives an older simpler model, usually past 1/4 million miles.

I can do all of those things... but my time is better spent MAKING FUCKING MONEY, or doing things that I actually enjoy doing.

I could grow my own food, kill my own animals, tan my own leather (yes, I know how to do all that shit). I can change a tractor tire, grease ever fitting on a machine the size of a small house, and all sorts of crazy shit... but that doesn't mean I'm going to do it.

I spend my time more efficiently then that. I get my mechanic to take care of my car. He is a professional, and he checks it twice a year when he rotates my tires/ changes the oil, etc.

Just like I go to my doctor. He is a professional, and I value his medical opinion on my physical well being.

I know alot, but I'm not a professional at everything.... I do, however, know enough to put my trust into MEN who ARE professionals at specific tasks.

I don't need to fuck around with my car for maintenance, or repair work... sure I can change a tire or two if needed, but I have better things to do.

I changed my oil when I was a kid because my dad insisted. Let me tell you that the $10-20 extra it costs to have Mr. Thundercock change my oil for me is well worth it.

right. so, when you're young and the world is new and you're really stoked to own a car because it's way better than the 10speed you've been rocking since age 12, having a little garage and a set of sockets and a torque wrench and a fucking huge breaker bar and an awesome hydraulic jack and a fucking air compressor with an impact wrench for those lug nuts and all this cool shit is great. you can drink a beer and change your oil and listen to shitty metal and hang out with your friends. awesome, bro. notroll, i really mean it, that's totally cool when you're < 25. i did that shit and it was awesome. chicks dig it.

but when you get older and work all fucking day doing other hard shit, and you're making more money and value your time off, doing your own auto maintenance sounds less and less appealing because it's fucking work and needs fucking cleanup, which is more work. going to buy oil and filters and spark plugs and shop rags and dropping off your fucking used oil and god knows what the fuck else ... well, that shit is also work.

oh, and if you live in a place in a bigass city run by assholes where you can't just jack your car up in the parking garage and start working with corrosive and/or dirty fluids next to everyone else's brand new german shit it's even more of a pain in the ass than it would be in your nice suburban garage with that weird extra fridge full of drinks that some people have in their garage.

You're right. It is simple. However, like we all know, time is money sometimes. It's simply much easier to pay some dude at Jiffy Lube to change it in 15 minutes than to do it yourself by driving to the auto parts store, driving back to your parking garage, changing your oil, and then cleaning up, which takes much more time and effort.

Everyone on here talking about how it's "bitch work" and that's why you pay people. Yea, for laundry, cooking, cleaning and other actual forms of bitch work, you're right. In OP's example, changing your own oil or other car shit, he's absolutely right. Every girl I've ever known, no matter how feminist, loves a guy who can work on his car. There are very few things hotter to a woman than a muscular guy with his sleeves rolled up getting greasy under the hood.

Good post OP but next time go further and post some self help video on how to change oil or something beneficial. Many people already know this stuff but just don't have the knowledge.

The bottom line is being able to change your own oil and do other manly shit will boost your smv. That's all.
