I’m a young male, just entering legal adulthood and was wondering if going my own way meant that I had to give up all relationships with any close females in my life?

I’ve been really intrigued by the thought of ‘going my own way’ so to speak after a bad break up I had recently. I realized I was wasting so much mental energy on girls, trying to impress them, worrying about how I looked to them, what they thought of me, trying to get them, etc. I’m not opposed to hooking up if a situation like that falls in my lap (for instance if a girl approaches me at a bar or something) or maybe even having a casual girlfriend at sometime if something happens naturally and she meets all my standards for being a good person. However, I’ve decided I’m never getting married, probably not having kids and I’m done chasing girls or giving them any power over me by controlling the way I act, waste mental energy on, waste time on, etc. Basically adopting a going my own way mentality where I just put my head down, live how I wanna live but be done looking for validation from the outside world, specifically from women.

However, a lot of the most important people in my life are women. My mom who raised and sacrificed so much for me, my grandma who’s an angel, my sisters who are always there for me, my female friends who are some of my oldest and truest friendships. I still care about them a ton and want to be able to spoil them at times(especially my mom),spend time with all of them, hug them and tell them I love them, etc, etc. Is this allowed or am I not truly going my own way if I have close female relationships of any kind?

I’m also in school in a program where there is a lot of women and team work is required as there are a lot of complex team projects. I’m not a mean guy, really not and I’m nice and courteous to anyone who I interact with. But is it fine to be around and interact with girls if it’s in this setting? Like not trying to impress them or pursue them but just have good relationships with them which will be good for school and eventually helping me with my professional life (a lot of my mentors, teachers and top connections at school are also women). Like basically I don’t have the choice that most of the people I see and talk to on a daily basis are girls, it’s just the way it is.

Is this ok? Also what about my male friends who are practically my brothers, is it fine if I still see them a lot also? I guess I’m still kinda confused by this ideology and if it’s right for me like if it’s really a solitary way of life or more just a mindset you have
