I was a financially poor guy back in college. I got almost no attention from women. I could see the guys that were dating attractive women, and I could get some idea of what the women were looking for, by what those guys were like.

I had a very small number of romantic relationships after college, but while I was still fairly financially poor. It was a lot of effort (and much wasted time) just to find those relationships, and they were not very strong romantic relationships, nor did they last.

When I started doing better financially, I finally got my most serious romantic relationship ever, and she was also attractive. However, she had all kinds of problems, and there were lots of signs that she was cheating on me by the time the relationship ended. Looking back now, I think that I was able to date someone that attractive, at least partly because (a) she was looking for someone who could help her (I didn't know this at the time), and (b) with her problems, that reduced her options as far as guys.

Now I'm doing quite well financially, and I have had the experience of women throwing very strong hints that they'd like to date me (they also know that I'm doing well financially). I think about, what is different about me now compared to when I was in college. And the huge difference is my financial situation. I suppose that I have a lot more confidence thanks to MGTOW too, but I doubt that this is the reason, because it seems to always be the women that know about my financial success that seem to be the ones who are mysteriously interested in me these days.

They may not even mean anything bad by such interest. Maybe they don't even realize that that's what's attracting them. Or maybe they think, at some level of their brain, that being a provider is some part of who a person is, and that thus there is nothing wrong with dating based on that.

Even if they don't mean anything bad by that, I'm left with the following thought: I was a good student in a good degree program back in college. It wouldn't have been that difficult for women to date me then, based on my chances of future success. Instead, from what I could see, women picked guys based on physical characteristics, a "party" attitude, and traditionally valued personality characteristics didn't seem to matter much.

I feel like that part of my being MGTOW now is a direct result of my dating experiences in my twenties and thirties. It's kind of like the universe balancing itself out, in a way. If I wasn't good enough back in college, then I'm not around to be someone's "Plan B" when I'm middle-aged.

Also, with the chances of bad divorces and other bad experiences being reasonably high, in my own particular situation, it doesn't make sense for me to get back into dating. And being single so much has gotten me used to it; in fact, I am able to enjoy being single.
