Don't try to start your own business. The risk is huge, the odds are against you, the rate of failure is extremely high, and the consequences are enormous. It is not worth it. This is all true and uncontroversial, everybody knows it, and yet people continue to try to start their own business, in this day when most businesses fail.

You could pour all your time, energy, and money into it, for years, think everything is going great, even though you have very little control over things, then the economy takes a turn, you are blindsided and you lose everything and you are humiliated.

Or, you could suffer for years thinking good times are around the corner. Guess what, the good times are always going to be around the corner, laughing at you.

The law is against you. The government is against you. If the IRS decides that you didn't follow some capricious and arbitrary rule just right, they will make your life miserable.

Your customers don't care about you. If they find somebody else's product more appealing, they will drop you without a thought. Your employees have no loyalty. If they find a more appealing job, they will leave you in the lurch, no matter how many years it's been. You can't win.

There is no benefit to being a business owner. It may have been a good idea for your grandfather's generation, but it's a terrible idea today.

It doesn't matter how smart you think you are, you are not special.

ABALT. All businesses are like that.

This is what you dorks who think LTRs/marriage are impossible sound like on those threads earlier today, except you're more childish. All this shit is high-risk, we know that; so you manage the risk if you think it's worth it, don't do it if you think it's not.

Stop and think about it: more businesses than marriages fail; far more. And yet, a quick canvas of TRP users will probably show the business idea is favored by the majority. That is not logical.

Not everybody is cut out to be a business owner; some people who want to get married just plain shouldn't. We got the message.

Go into anything you do with RP principles and slay. What you do is your choice, not the choice of some anonymous twat on the internet. inb4 somebody says that I am an anonymous twat on the internet: yes, I am.
