This post uses the concept of masculinity and toxic masculinity interchangeably, which negates the very foundation of the phrase "toxic masculinity". It's not the same thing. Toxic masculinity covers ideas and values places upon men that are harmful and oppressive to them expressing their full humanity. Ideas like, men can't cry, cant Express emotions that arent anger or horniness, cant need help, can't touch another man platonically, can't pursue dreams and goals that don't allign with this big machismo idea of being a man. So yes, we need less toxic masculinity.

That’s because the standard is so freaking high for a father to get full custody, than when they actually do they are incredible Dads, or the Mothers are total drug addicts.

Even so, I do think single fathers on average make better parents than their counterparts. I feel like we’re less emotional & more patient. We also raise tougher & more independent free thinkers. Men simply tend to have harder lives, with more life experiences, or am I wrong?!?

To be fair I don't think anyone's saying that all masculinity is toxic, just when the male ego is at odds with logic, which does happen. For example I saw a thread on bodybuilding forum where op was told to do xyz every other day and then it turned into a 500-page debate about how many days a week that is.

Still, I do wish they acknowledged the existence of toxic femininity as well.

That's kind of true but not 100% It depends on the person and also the life experience someone has. In my case, I grew up without a father and I'm not aggressive nor depressed. I have high tolerance of patience and even if I get really angry I still am lucid enough to know how to solve the situation in the best possibile way. In any case a father figure is very important as the mother one

Couldn't you argue that any household that makes less income tends to be less stable due to living in lower income areas that have less resources and schooling. That why violence occurs in lower income communities regions is because simply, they have nothing better to do other than have sex, do drugs, ect.. which is why they have more teen pregnancies. It seems to be a lack of opportunity rather than the lack of masculinity. I'm on neither side and more than happy to engage in a discussion.

im not sure i completely agree with this, toxic masculinity is for certain put out of proportion and misrepresented in a lot of ways, but the real issue is when people make fun of men for not being able to be who they want, unless they want to be big tough and grizzly, and an asshole of course.

Kinda late to this but I don’t think this works... The ones without a father generally have single mothers and having only one source of income and having the burden of caring for the child on one person is just less stable. I don’t think this statistic really works for masculinity, more for having two parents present rather than one. What do you guys think?
