I've lost my faith in academia. Even the faculties that teach true science, all the research is made by poorly paid PhD students that have to work for way more years than the program is supposed to last, they have to teach the classes that professors don't want to, they have to evaluate towers of tests that the professor doesn't "have the time" to, they have to work on endless theses that get extended on every whim of the tutor, while making ridiculous amounts of money (or some of them even getting in debt). And most of those PhDs won't ever work as professors after that, there's simply not enough jobs for the skill the acquire which is to do original research. Universities have some merit now, but really they're an obsolete form of teaching that should fade away as bootcamps, online tutoring and other ways to learn become more relevant. Many of my job applications nowadays already include skill tests (for coding) so whatever filters I went through in college really mean nothing to them. Employers are trusting less and less what Unis have to offer.

Unfortunately? i'm pretty sure these people get jobs in HR. HumanResources = the people that hire you at a big company.

example. I was a programmer. I cant just take my software i wrote by myself, hand it over and say "well, lets look ay my softwre, to see if you think i'm a great programmer or not!" at my interview... nope...

i have to "get through" human resources... someone who has NO IDEA how to program a computer? will determine if i get hired or not. Handwriting analysis, MinnesotaMultiphasicPersonalityInventory (do you like mannish women?). what shoes am i wearing, am i wearing the "correct tie".

I mean, i understand people with useless degrees need jobs too? but... why are they the gatekeepers to good jobs for the people that went and hacked it through STEM degrees, you know?

honestly? the problem needs to be taken seriously...
