27 female I guess I’ve been going my own way the last year. I’ve been traveling alone the last 7 months because I have the time and the money now, not because I’m swearing off dating forever. I’m all about people doing their own thing if that’s what they want or need to do, but I don’t understand why you need to put down or insult a whole gender in order to do it. Some of the posts here are crude and appear to be from high schoolers with no critical thinking skills. I’m always happy to see a reasonable person in the comment section calling out irrational and bullshit posts.

To me, some people are just shitty, female or male. I’ve been betrayed by guys but that doesn’t mean they all suck by any means. I spend a lot of time worrying about being attacked or assaulted and do a lot to avoid that. Some of that is due to past experiences being followed. Some of the fear is related to size (I’m quite small/skinny based on what people tell me). One guy friend told me I’d be the first to get attacked in a group. Another guy friend said it would be like Christmas morning for someone who wanted to do harm if they saw me walking alone in the street in a rougher area of my city.

I get caught in uncomfortable situations or come into contact with creepy men but I don’t hold a grudge against guys for this. Not at all. In fact, I repeatedly rely on the kindness of strangers while traveling. More often than not, they have been men. Often times they have been men with girlfriends who didn’t appear to have bad intentions but wanted to make sure I got home safe. I connect easier to guys, have more male friends or acquaintances and have lived with more guy roommates than girl roommates. But ugh, this whole sub is disheartening.

So my question is, why can’t people in this group just go their own way and support each other? Do you really have to generalize and post memes insulting a whole gender to do so? I feel like there are tons of females I don’t relate to, so it’s weird you would group us all together. Again, I have no problem with people who want to grow and do their own thing. I may be the biggest commitment-phobe I know and have always been upfront about that. I’m not one to question someone’s life choices, but I just would like some opinions/insight.
