I think traditionally (maybe not today, I suspect a bit yes) married men with children were preferred at companies for management jobs (unwritten unspoken thing), since a married man with family liabilities will be more willing to work harder and accept what the company expects from him, accept changes or promotions because they need the money and keep their social standing.

A man who has no family liabilities may draw a line or even leave the job while a married with children one couldn't do that and has to cope with nearly anything that comes.

I have a savings account I call my "fuck off" account. Be it a man or woman, some people get a sick thrill off of fucking someone's life up. I have seen it first hand and being beholden to anyone sucks.

I have only used it once in my life and it was totally worth it. Long story short, I was in a meeting with an "VP" HR lady that masturbates when she fires someone. I wish I was kidding but I am not, it's how she got off on her power trip.

Anyway, she and the VP of a banking company wanted to write my team (and I) up. When she passed the paper to me I told her it was a bunch of lies and I wouldn't sign it.
She said that could lead to termination....

I said, I will save you the trouble, gave her the finger and the VP the finger. I said I have a great savings account for an issue like this and I don't need a job at this hell hole.

I got up, walked out (as they were calling security to walk me out the building) and I was laughing my ass off.

I worked there 10 years and I was given a 10/10 on my review two weeks earlier WITH the maximum raise. It was a political witch hunt and my team got caught in the middle.

It was a good day for you man and I am happy more people are taking this advice. Don't be in debt and have an emergency fund to get out of a stressful job. It will take years off your life to put up with these assholes.
