Neediness. Doesn't respect your need for alone time, you enjoying your own hobbies, your space or boundaries.

Expects you to emotionally look after him. Constantly complaining or upset about something in life, that will make you feel bad for him, but he has zero resolutions or motivation to work on his problems.

Seems jealous of others, even you. If you're doing something great, he's doing something better. But it's all talk and no substance.

Takes things personally, like when you have a different opinion or idea to his or don't enjoy something he does.

They are most of the insecure men I have met. But there are definitely men who mask it with arrogance and fake confidence.

He's afraid to share his feelings with you or to allow himself to be vulnerable. He spends more time putting up this facade of confidence than allowing himself to show genuine emotion.

I’d say to anyone reading it is not your job to suss out an insecure man. You will end up possibly feeling sorry for him or trying to save him.

We need to worry about ourselves because even an insecure man is secure in knowing he can shit on us. He can lean on us and demand things from us. Believe it.

Don’t even mess with all that. It’s not our job to make a man feel secure. We have a tough time bringing our own selves up.

I’m so damn serious right now. Don’t waste any time on a dudes insecurity... spend time doing for yourself and making room for a HVM or even not. You gotta worry about you.

Edit to say it’s a waste of goddamn time. Yes. I’m right.

My ex's insecurity manifested in him overreacting at the slightest hint of disrespect (and he works in the service industry, so disrespect is part and parcel). Someone who's secure doesn't get that bent out of shape over disrespect. He'd also talk with some frequency about how no matter what happened to him, he'd land on his feet and find a way to make money and that he'd get somewhere in life. He was saying this more than a year after moving in with his mom and stepdad, still working a part time job where he was struggling to gain traction because of his anger issues. All that talk was insecurity. He didn't actually feel secure in those assertions, which is why he'd give voice to them regularly. It's like he thought if he said it enough, it'd be true.

He has questions about your past. Reallllll specific questions. He thinks you use your eyes and smile to ‘’invite” strange men to hit on you (Hitting on means a man asking you to pass the salt). He says you know you’re sexy and you must love using that to manipulate men.

He thinks your midi length turtleneck sweater dress is a little too snug. And that those heel make you look like you have no morals. He starts expressing strong opinions that he prefers you not wear makeup.

He asks “Who are you texting?” every time you touch your phone.
