When I was in High School a buddy of mine his father worked at the bank in repossessions and foreclosures. So he was able to score a car cheap.

At 16 his dad got him an AMC Pacer as his first car. We named it the Moon Buggy. So next time you're complaining about the car your parents got you, go look up what a AMC Pacer looks like.

I come from a European country. I leave in northern America now. When I first moved here my mind was blown at all this kids getting free cars from their parents at 16-18 years old . Something like this was unheard off in my country!! The most expensive gift I got was a BMX bike and I was happy and thankfull as fuck to my parents :). To be honest it feels much better getting something with your own work and effort. There's something about it that just feels better.

When I was in high school, my parents got me a 2001 Kia Sportage. I was thrilled it had 4 wheel drive because I worked at a ski resort and kind of needed it. It wasn't a sexy vehicle but it ran well and everything worked. Guess who never complained about a free car?

I'd take a free car any day. Actually thats not true, i was determined to buy my own first car. I actually turned down my parents offer to get me somwthing. I saved up and got an old beater toyota until i could save up for a sporty car. A year later after working (this girl obviously never has) i finally got my dream car with the engine and drive i knew i wanted, as i watch all the women my age wrecking their brand new nissan altimas in the snow.
