I agree with you completely. I always felt like school never reflected how intelligent an individual is but how much effort they're willing to put into remembering irrelevant facts. I wish I could just start training for my career instead of going to years of college to memorize bullshit. However, I feel like it's in my best interest to bite the bullet and go through with it for a higher quality of life. Any suggestions for an alternative course of action?

Outside world is different and is full of shit. Schools and college are for stupids. School taught us how to be a good slave and colleges taught us how to be a work slave to someone. Fuck School, Fuck College. The things that i got from my college are a fucking stupid degree and a lots of "V". I think college is the one of many names to the brothel.

I was aware of the idea of school being mental castration when I was in th... well, my entire school life. Up until the 4th grade teachers preached to my parent (single mom) that I "couldn't follow directions." It's not that I couldn't follow directions, or read... I was reading to myself at 4 years old because I got tired of waiting to be read to. It's simply that I discarded their directions and instructions and tried to pursue my own interests. If their lessons didn't align with my interests, I discarded them.

Now this may not be the correct way, but looking back on it I was a natural MGTOW. It had nothing to do with genders or sex, but I developed a natural outside-looking-in perspect very young and sort of grew in my philosophies and perspectives just as naturally through school and watching adult interactions and all the petty rules and boundaries schools apply to its environment. I also didn't find the topics they valued to be important.

I didn't care what photosynthesis is, or how it worked, or why plants need sun... I wanted to take shit apart and learn how it worked. I wanted to craft with my hands. I wanted to build computers and express what was really on my mind, but the rules and boundaries of the educational environment repressed my range of expression to the point I had to fold inside myself and portray a hollow person who did not get excited.

Somewhere along the way, in all of that suppression, it really became me.

I have always felt about my schooling that it was an interruption to my desired education and it swallowed a generous portion of my first 13 cognitive years of life.

But, those lessons have instilled into me an absolute awareness that I am alone and I was forced to accept that, so it has been ... not easy but simple to view people as they really are and stay far away from the social rituals they mostly all partake in.

I watched relationships crumble. I watched a guy get attacked by his wife with a cast iron skillet. I watched him grab her arms and take the skillet away from her, and I watched the cops arrive and haul him off to jail, despite witness testimony and the fact that it was his house, with a fractured skull.

That was when I was 7. Although I was already aware of the fucked up nature of "adulthood" I recognize that moment as the one that instilled in me a permanent and unwavering caution of women and hitching my well being to them in any context.

As I've aged, everything I've seen has simply continued to fortify that lesson.

Sorry for the therapy session. But yes, the education system will fuck you up if you don't resist it.

Honestly, my biggest regret was not dropping out as soon as possible. School hasn't taught me anything but basic math and that women are special.

I think there are many variables that change your school experience. Yes some classes were just bullshit but I remember a couple teachers who were specifically chosen for their "real shit" teaching attitude. They didn't follow a set curriculum, and really taught us what was waiting for us outside in the real world, the good and the ugly.

Also the people, 80% of highschool kids are all about "swag swag nigga" its fucking sad. They care more about a pair of shoes and looking fresh rather than just learning the shit and maybe down the road make some money with a good job and then buy all the goddamn shoes you desire, priorities are way off nowadays.

I remember a phrase my old english teacher used to tell us during one of his life experiences talks it goes "For some kids, highschool will be the pinnacle of their lives" In the real world their "swag" won't get them anywhere. It may have worked in highschool, you may have been popular but after that they quickly realize that the world doesn't give a fuck who you are.

Either way I did what my dad did, dropped out halfway through highschool, got a craftsman certification in my field of choice and started a business with money saved up from bullshit jobs, gotta start somewhere.

Two of my brothers (14 and 11) are currently in a mixed school. They literally come home every day with another story of some girl being a bitch. They're starting homeschooling at the end of this term, so we can 'teach' them properly.

I study pure math at the University, and believe me when I say that I understand you. Most of the thing I study for exams are pure theoretical stuff. The Newton laws, the classic physics(that they still teach) are pure fantasies of worlds that are not ours. I know it is a game of learning stuff that you will not be able to use, fact is, the work I want to do requires a piece of paper, I'll even learn the theory of risiko or the story of game of thrones for what I care, I want that qualification. It is anyway a challenge, and it changes on how you face it. Anyway I prefer to have at least the first grades of schools for people, because if people were not able to read or write, or even know a bit of the main subjects, they would be just like the past generations of puppets. Ignorance is worse than an half fake education. Be happy that you see things for what they are, and just keep what is useful, the useless stuff you can forget of.

I think the school system is bad but I think it does more good then bad.
I remember up until 6-8th grade school helped me a lot in being creative, learning words and English, Math, how to be social and make friends.
At a young age I think his helps you a lot more then you can imagine.
I think it was around high school that I started to hate school and it seemed to be more like torture and less about learning.
Advanced math class well most the math classes showed me things I still today have never used and probably never will.
I graduated with 3 extra years of English and this will in no way ever help me.
I remember learning about Hilter in high school but at a young age and where school seemed like torture I never really gave a shit about history nor did I ever get to question history. If I did I would of probably got in trouble at school anyways.

The one things I think that was good is high school shows you at a young age how much work it will take in the real world to be successful or to work towards your dreams/goals.
Normally if you worked hard in being successful in school you will probably work that hard out of school.

100% agreed with everything you said, and it resonates completely with my experience.

I've hated nothing more than school. Right from day 1, right from the very first class I attended. I was teased within about 5 minutes of entering my first class, unprovoked and here I thought we would all just get along "Hahaha". What a fucking joke.

Maybe American schools are like in the movies where you see kids get some control over their environment, not where I was schooled. It was militant.

The general theme is that you did what you were told, you learnt because you were told and you passed because if you didn't you had to repeat the year, and no one wanted that shit.

I never felt like I was exploring the subject matter. I associated those books with scores and boredom and later in life stuff that now actually interests me, back then had it been presented without the marks and other shit, perhaps I would have been paying attention.

And later in high school the level of detail became ridiculous. Literally learning dates of war events, or labelling a plant cell indepth. As for chemistry, and all that stress of trying to learn it , what the fuck for? Totally futile.

Before I jump around, I'll also say there was tons of maths, which I do advocate, but absolutely 100% of the actual useful maths like algebra or things like trigonometry were taught context free.

Now let me tell you, that is a massive undertaking to be learning tons of theory you have seemingly have absolutely fuck all use for. And you cannot begin to fathom how you could possibly start to apply this knowledge. SO YOU DON'T. You simply learn it because you are told to. And that my friends is bullshit.

What the fuck is so wrong with adjusting the curriculum to show kids the value in what they're learning upfront? No, they tell you, you may need this later, and then only give you very basic explanations like "If you get into engineering". Really? I'm much more of the understanding that if you show kids why they should learn it they'll be interested in the subject matter, because now they have vision.

In then end though, I'm a programmer. Now you might think - great at least that maths wasn't lost on you, but frankly, even that is very specific and most of it totally irrelevant. But out of all the subjects, it's perhaps the most relevant.

Forced fucking sport. That's right we had to partake in it. Mandatory like it or not. That included actually participating in inter school events. I couldn't swim well, and when I was younger terribly skinny. The swimming events meant sitting around in your speedo till it was your turn to race in front of massive crowds, and then me coming last by far, and I mean by far... Fuck that shit. That stuff doesn't make you feel empowered or educated or good about yourself. It gives your already sorry ass a reason to get laughed at even harder. People don't respect the weak, why put kids through this kind of trauma?

I was not actually permitted to take computer science as a subject, because that was for rich kids who's parents sponsored those computers. In the end though, I ended up a programmer despite my education.

I actually have no formal education relating to my work. Nothing, not a scrap of paper to wipe my ass on. I instead had a passion for it, and taught myself. No one needed to force me or to check my grades or nag me.

And its that fucking nagging that kids are caught up in. They end up being a product of it, not free thinkers or passionate about anything. Only it sets the stage that life is about - well other things. Maybe your school days were hell on earth, like mine, or maybe you were one of those kids who seemed to just be completely fine with it. Maybe you were even one of those popular kids who everyone liked and give yourself credit for this.

I call bullshit on that one too. In reality, it is the kids who have a stable home environment that can prosper in a school setting (socially I mean), while kids who have chaos and disorder in their homes, end up getting bullied and treated like shit at school. It's like a double fuck you sword. Your home life is fucking miserable, better have a miserable school life too.

So I survived it with a casual disconnect. To me it was the most traumatic thing I've ever been through, and the only good thing is it made other things later in life seem pale in comparison.

One things good about school that's gone is confronting a bully. I learned in 5th grade sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and not expect a teacher or authority to always bail you out. He may kick your butt, team up with people who he bullied and jump him. He'll stop, and possibly will apologize citing he didn't mean to make you feel that bad. Now adays kids don't even do conflict resolution, it's all whining and complaining about an issue then they grow up not knowing that the world is full of dicks and a holes and either ignore them or confront them because you can't tell on everyone when you have a problem

School is good in that it teaches you to deal with the absolute absurdity of life, and of dealing with a corporate environment. Which most people will end up in. I agree with most of what you said but I thought I would offer one counterpoint.

I always disliked school, but it has value. The value isn't just learning a skill for work. It's to make you a well rounded individual who hears many perspectives and learns to think for oneself. Also, college shows that you can see something through from start or finish (acceptance to graduation). School wasn't designed to teach you about meditation or diet. That is supposed to be what your parents teach you.

So I guess what I'm saying is that the intentions of a formal education system are good, but, like anything, it has been eroded away bit by bit over the years.

Yep, school was hell. It was never about asking the right questions. It was about conforming to what would already get you into the rat race to slave away for someone above you. Be a good boy and if you step out of line then you'll pay the price of being ostracized.

School never teaches you to build your own brand (which is the only way to ensure you never lose your value). The only advice I have is to start a YouTube channel. Build a website, and start selling products, t shirts. Or if you have a hobby or service you can provide start building it now. Get one client a year, no matter how long it takes, in 20 years something will have gelled

If you go man then go to a trade school where you get paid to work and learn an actual skill.

If you go to a college or university then go to a community college first. Community colleges have plenty of 2 year degrees that lead to jobs like horticulture (become a farmer, gardener, etc.) , fire science (become a firefighter), emt (paramedic), court reporter, HVAC, electrical, etc. These are just the ones I can think of from my local community college. You'll spend way less than the assholes at a four year college and you'll have a much better shot at getting a decent job where you actually have a skill.

If you go to a four year school do something STEM related that will translate to an actual job.

Schools regiment people, and stifle them immediately into passive observers in their own lives. Our vitality is stolen from us, and the seriousness and gravity of adulthood is forever looming in the horizon - our playground is shrinking beneath our feet as "boys will be boys" slowly becomes "you aren't a man unless ____".

It's all a bunch of trash. To me the only thing left to do for the rest of my life is to live a realized life devoted to truth and self respect.

I think one must not accept academic education as all 'good'. There are plenty of disadvantages. My favourite source of wisdom, Lahotar, says:
