Our sex drive was created so we could reproduce. The problem is with society's oversexualization of humans. It doesn't even have to be porn. Sex is everywhere.
You know people ridicule how in times past it was scandalous for a woman to even show an ankle, that's because they were generally covered from head to toe. Even if there was a bit of cleavage anything below the waist-line was covered. Of course that was for both sex's protection.
Please don't try to argue that you think marriage is bad because I'm not trying to advocate in one way or the other with this particular statement but: In a proper society (read a long time ago), women tended to be conservatively dressed, they had things that would stop men and women from bedding each other. They had long courtships, they eventually got married and finally sired offspring.
So here's what would happen, men weren't as exposed to female flesh like we are now (just go to the beach or even down the street). Men would be polite and ask the parents if they could see their daughters. Usually dances and things were formal occasions you wouldn't see a lot of dating with couples alone time.
You had to get father's consent, he might have to give a dowry. They didn't see each other until their wedding night. Then what happens you unwrap your "present" and then get busy making babies.
So your problem started when the 'sexual revolution' happened. Everyone sleeping with everyone else, you get tons of STD's, you get babies out of wedlock, and absentee parents. You get people not giving a care. And to top it off, someone told women they needed to be in control and that they could do it through their v-space.
So if people had remained, for lack of a better term, moral, we wouldn't be in this mess.
Now please, please, don't argue with me about what is and is not moral and about marriage, I'm just stating the fact based on the crap that's going on now. If it was done the correct way we wouldn't even be in here. Women would probably still be at home taking care of the house and the kids, and we men would be cool because we would bring home the bacon and everyone would actually be happy.
Again I want to emphasize I'm not trying to argue about morals or marriage, other than to say this is why we have "thots" in the first place.

Ever own a fleshlight? The fleshlight sleeve is TPE. The dolls aren't that soft though. If they were they'd be jellyfish. Just a bit firmer but same principle. Retains warm, soft, sticky when not powdered, etc.
TPE is more tear resistant than silicone. Silicone is easier to repair though when it does tear. TPE is a more involved process of using solvents to mend tears. I've not had any tears in my TPE dolls if that helps.

For an escort, It depends where you live, culture and laws of the trade. In UK where I'm from its legal and can range from £50-£60 for 30 minutes. For 1 hour, it can range from £80-£160 (usually £140-£160 for high end) and sometimes much more for Courtesan (very high quality prostitute which are over £200 per hour).

In the US where it's not legal, the risk environment is very different. I think most people here on this 'sub' would agree that prostitution should be legalized in the US, but until it is, there are significant risks. I could certainly understand flying overseas somewhere to do it legally in a (relatively) risk free environment. In America and much of the industrial world, things like security and privacy (well, at least the illusion of such) are easily come by and can be bought with money. Hygiene in the form of regular checkups can also be bought with money. Defense/combat/weapons training, again easily paid for with money. You’re talking as if sex workers need a daddy/mommy/slave owner to take care of them, which is not the case. Sex work is just a job, nothing more. Sure there are risks, but that comes with the territory. There’s plenty of jobs that carry high risk such as steel workers, miners, linemen, etc. Sex workers can get paid pretty well, and a lot of that depends on their physicality, which again is easily bought with money, or developed through exercise and training. However, when 1/2 or more of your money goes to one person who looks at you as a mere commodity, and in return may or may not offer protections which wouldn’t be needed were sex work/prostitution legal, or worse forces one to work when so not inclined, that’s a basic human rights violation. Of course, I do also get the irony that part of what I describe could be applied to the average wage-slave American 😂

Once they develop the 'perfect' companion/sex robot, if a standardized double blind test demonstrates that 99% of men are unable to tell which 'woman' is biological, and which is robotic . .. there would arguably be zero practical difference.
Materials science is amazing stuff. If the current artificial 'tomato' (breasts/tits) doesn't feel real enough, tomorrow's will. Then they'll focus on making them better than the original. Many people argue that the Fleshlight category of products feel better than the original female orifices they're modeled on; not sure I agree, but it's definitely better than lefty or righty.
With several billion men (and women) as potential buyers of sex companion robots, there's real money driving the development of this tech. And with an additional need for companion robots to take care of elderly and disabled people, the tech will get here even sooner due to it finding a place in products sold to multiple markets.
But who knows the timeline. I'm increasingly of the belief (shared by many others) that adult usage of VR tech will provide a more satisfying experience years before we see these fully mechanized and perfectly AI-personalitied 'uber sex robots' of science fiction. (Nah, haven't bought or demo'd any VR yet, but it sure sounds cool.)
If people like these companion robots too much, it's possible the entire human race might go extinct from neglecting 'old fashioned' sex/reproduction. Perhaps that is one place where 'artificial wombs' (or whatever they get called) might be helpful. The main sci-fi reference I have is from the Vorkosigan series (http://vorkosigan.wikia.com/wiki/Uterine_replicator), some of the first books of which were written many decades ago. And only now in 2017-ish are we finally seeing them used successfully for mammals, and perhaps humans soon. (Actually the wikipedia page for 'artificial uterus' has a bunch more sci fi references.)
If that strange 'humans like companion robots too much' outcome happens, I hope our new 'robot overlords' decide to at least maintain a breeding population of humans LOL. Sort of a cautious 'let's all agree not to create technology that's that addictive' reminder. (Maybe the Amish would be the last ones?)

Yeah, Huxley wrote about that all the way back in 1932! Good book, and amazing that it's still relevant and interesting today. Unlike Huxley's book, in the Vorkosigan book series, uterine replicators are not used as part of a dystopian totalitarian society, but simply to improve safety to both women and children, in a society where most people have a great deal of individual freedom.
A million years of bio/tech/cultural evolution have gotten us this far, at a relatively slow pace. In recent years, with tech changing so rapidly, I guess we need to be careful not to allow new 'extreme' tech to be used to cause us to all become extinct, or enslaved, or worse.
