Depends a lot on where you live man, as a dark skinned dude myself, every girl is not going to be feeling you. It's just that simple. Do you dress fly/well? Are you lifting? Those things can make up for looks to a certain extent.

Indian here! This is the story of all Indian guys who move to the west. Let me tell you a bitter truth. You will not get matched unless you put some really awesome pictures. I have never used tinder for myself. But, me and a friend of mine (not Indian) did an experiment. Both of us created our profiles. First, we put really bad pictures of ourselves. I got no matches and he got like 3-4 matches from not so attractive girls. Next, we deleted our profile, created again with awesome pictures. I got like 8-9 matches and my friend got 20 odd matches in 2 days.

What we found out was majority of the women prefer men of their own ethnicity. And, you know Indian women. They hate themselves and Indian men. So, no luck there as well. But, why bother about women who doesn't like you. I usually stick to the expat groups I have found where I live and It is working out for me. I exclusively approach Latinas, Eastern Europeans, middle eastern, some open minded Indians and ignore those snobby self-centered <enter colour here> bitches. :D

Stop using dating websites. It only makes you feel bad about yourself.

my advice, and one that gave me lots of matches, before I had the tipical dull photos of me just smiling:

photo with a cute dog where you two are having fun, if you dont have one, ask one to a friend and take a photo
photo on the beach, running, showing your muscles and that you are having fun
photo riding a motorcycle / bicycle / doing some sort of sports
photo dressed up in a party or nice place, like a fancy hotel restaurant
photo with some cool friends (males and females), where you are the best looking one or at least you arent ugly compared to the rest of the persons there

all those photos together show that you are caring, a good guy, animal lover, well traveled, fun, and have friends and not are creepy at all

I also have a instagram account where I do my "social marketing", I upload photos doing cool shit with my friends, like riding motorcycles, having fancy drinks, kissing babies, painting, etc, think a mini Dan Bilzerian, Im not a millionarie but with a couple good photos you can make look your persona as if you are the coolest guy in the city or at least in a 5 km radius

Well I'm (dark skinned) Black and I get much more attention in real life as opposed to dating online, even among black women. Conservatively, I'd consider myself an 8, but my friends of lighter skin and equal attractiveness get way more attention online. There's no saltiness here, I understand that that's just the way that things are. Here's why. Women are attracted to men that they see as successful. Its that evolutionary mumbo jumbo. Lighter skin is more widely acceptable. My friend who is just one shade lighter than me but still considered dark skin and a bit less attractive due to bad acne sees sooo much success on Tinder. He was spinning new plates on there weekly! Why? Because he worked on Wall Street, and posted pictures of himself on his apartment balcony that oversees the Hudson River in New York City. They look at him and see wealth which = baby daddy potential. In short, signs of success pulls hoes online. However, in real life your personality can shine, which brings me much more success offline rather than online. Hope this helps a bit.

Shave hair, or stylize. Grow that beard, trim and stylize. No mustaches, at least for you. Don't smile so wide in pictures. Say everything you need to say with your eyes. If you put white skin on your face you'd have a bit of Beavis and Butthead mixed together. What does your profile look like? Do you have photos out with your friends, with animals, playing sports, out enjoying nature, maybe showing off at least some sort of wealth? Your looks aren't doing you any favours but you've got a great smile...although you've got some dead eyes.

I did a field report on Tinder a while back regarding race. I made two separate accounts, one of a average, in shape, white guy and one of Simeon Panda(seriously jacked black guy, google him).

I swiped yes and no on the same women to make it equal. After a week, the white guy had 50+ matches, the black guy had only 7.

When you say "Dark Skin", do you mean Black? Because those who are, under any other normal circumstances (like the majority of Indians) "Black" have it easier. You average black Indian or Black Latino has a slight edge.

Heres the truth. If you are a minority in your country, then the majority will have stereotypes assigned to your ethnic group. Some of these stereotypes are good and some are bad. Now, when you meet people in person, the clothes you wear, the cologne you have on, the way you speak, and your body language can easily melt away pre-conceptions that a woman (granted she's not just all-the-way-racist against your ethnicity) may have about you. These women will not give as many IOIs, but that doesn't mean you cant win. And they will always swipe away from an unfamiliar face on a dating app because you aren't there, smiling in her face, to dispel her negative assumptions.

The case for the mixed man

A lot of people on here are reasoning in a binary manner, i.e. one is either white or dark-skinned. Though in my case, I'm mixed: mom is white (French), dad is brown (North-African). The result is that I do not look typically French, and I do not look typically North-African either.

The problem is that unless you look like you're 100% white, girls will consider you as non-white. And this, son, comes with a lot of stereotypes and issues when it comes to dating.

Common issues include:

assume you have a specific mindset/cultural background
assume your game is based on your ethnicity
see you as exotic & wild, but nothing more

It can be great if I want to fuck white French girls on the assumption that I'm an angry barbarian coming from far away just to ravish local girls. The thing is that I'm not.

If I really wanted to date the girls I want to date (i.e. local white sweethearts), it would basically decreases my SMV, whereas playing the angry barbarian increases my SMV. The problem is that the girls wanting the angry barbarians are not LTR material.
