• Background: Born and raised in America of Indian parents. It's a culture where they highly value reaching certain milestones by certain ages (marriage by 30, first child by 32, etc.) It's also very much a culture of keeping up with the Jones'. Oh your son works at Microsoft? Well mine just sold a startup worth $50 million. I'm 28 years old and MGTOW since I started med school 7 years ago. I will be finishing up my residency Emergency Medicine this July.

Anyway my parents, who previously were glad that I wasn't fooling around with girls and instead "focusing on my studies" have now started pestering me about finding a "nice girl to marry." My mom was even filling out my Biodata (basically a single persons resume listing physical characteristics, education, income, astrological sign, etc) to send out online before I stopped her.

I told them that I had no plans of ever getting married or having children. They instantly started comparing me to relatives and family friends who were settling down, buying homes, and having kids. I then told them that I plan on living very frugally and not working full time (2 twelve hour shifts a week will more than pay for my lifestyle). I would use my free time to do cheap hobbies I enjoy such as exercising, meditating, studying history, etc. They tried to guilt me into thinking I was selfish and immoral for choosing such a path. And one of the main reasons why is what the rest of the indian community would think about me. They would rather have me marrying some random chick , working 4-5 grueling twelve hour shifts a week to buy a big house, fancy cars, college savings for their grandkids, etc.

  • Lesson: I think there is often a focus on women on this board which is well deserved. But also remember that MGTOW is also freedom from society which wants to enslave us by making us work longer and harder than we want to maintain some lifestyle we aren't even interested in.
