So I'm a Brit on holiday in NYC for a week (a change of scenery does wonders for mood by the way). Gone all over, usual sights, caught up with buddies I've made friends with from travelling around the world in the last few years and gone to bars and chatted with bartenders and whoever's in there in the late afternoon on everything from UK vs US cultural and linguistic differences, local politics, geopolitics, classical Greek tragedy, international travel, Presidential race, whisky, technology, you name it. Awesome time and learnt loads and have revisited my opinions and perspectives on some things! Oh and there's a great pool bar in Brooklyn - went in drunk and made friends with the local league that had just finished a round there. I think the Brit accent helps but found people generally approachable and friendly. Love this city!

Now maybe I'm attuned to this due to lurking on here, but I've noticed an overwhelming pattern in respect of the small sample of some of the women that I've observed/overheard - a near-singular obsession with relationships (or lack thereof) and who don't really seem to be able to hold court about anything else (totally disinterested in the above conversation topics and generally not particularly interesting to talk to either alone or with a mixed group of people).

Whether it's groups of women in bars bitching loudly about their current men/relationships or those they're dating and/or interested in dating, overhearing women on the street complain about how much their boyfriends spend on gym gear, supplements etc., girls in bars sitting on Tinder, a girl sitting by herself in Starbucks glancing around while reading a book called 'Beautiful Uncertainty' just now (which prompted me to think of all this and post; seems to be a book about making the most of "waiting" periods of time: I felt a bit sorry for her as if the "waiting" emphasis of the book wasn't the underlying theme, she'd be focusing on self-improvement and developing her knowledge, skills, interests and abilities in life as ends and rewards in themselves, and not through the lens of and purpose for productively filling transitional/waiting periods between relationships - nearly wanted to sound her out on this but by the time I'd finished the calls I was making she'd finished and left).

So, from your experiences/observations, is this an NYC thing or a microcosm of something wider? I'd like to think I've been around plenty of parts of NYC (inc. Queens, Brooklyn etc.) and the same thing seems to pan out. I also like to think there are plenty of single women not so single-minded and making the most of their lives, but maybe I'm naive - and if they are and doing WGTOW, more power to them. That said, seen plenty of guys here too who are self-absorbed to the point of anti-social narcissism.

Random musings; observations appreciated. Off now to watch Deadpool on a massive IMAX screen!
