Lol I once went to a group interview held by a female boss and the questions was basically all about personality and I wasn’t prepared for it at all . She asked the question left to right me being all the way to the left I had to answer these stupid questions first leaving me sounding like a fool as the other people just reworded my answer in a better way . The dumbest question was what’s your spirit animal and why would that animal be valuable . I fucking panicked and said a bear and I could tell she wasn’t happy with that answer . Everyone else just said better/cooler animals and she smiled . Next guy said lion , next guy said cheetah and the next guy tried to outdo all of us and said dragon to which she replied great answer Leadership qualities .

Soft 'science' and wishy washy shit. She'd never break out an IQ test though. That is the hardest science that psychology has to offer but it's unchangeable. I'd love to see her come back as average and have everyone else above her. Can you imagine the shame? She'd probably fucking kill herself. At minimum she'd say something like 'IQ isn't everything. I'm a Zebra Libra Rooster'

I worked for a company that swore by Myers-Briggs. Before I had to take the test I spent about 30 minutes online researching which answers would show me as best suited for the management style the company was seeking. Guess what my test ended up saying about me? INTJ? What a shock!

I had a brief chuckle and was on the management fast track from there.

The company went belly up a few years later, but I squeezed every bit of money I could from it before then and already had my exit strategy in place.

I've always treated personality profiles with mild suspicion and amusement.

One company owner I worked for implemented them for all incoming sales people. We had an applicant that this profile company said was the perfect candidate according to his profile results. After 6 months I called them and said your test is bs this guy cant sell his way out of a wet paper bag. They offered to retest him for free and so we did. Test came back with the same results, so I told the test company that was it, they and the salesmen were out. They offered to test another sales person so I had them test our number one sales guy. This guy and I had known each other for more than 15yrs at this point. He test at the middle of the pack according to the testing companies parameters. That was the final straw for me. I've never made a single decision since based on any of these profiles and I've been around them all - disc, meyers briggs, PI, caliper - you name it.

I advise business owners if they want to use these things to use them as an insight into the employee but that's about it.

My roommate has a similar issue, his entire work place did a personality test and all the answers that came back are bullshit like 'you work well with a little bit of authority', which is something everyone would believe, honestly. It was a lot of money spent to tell people what works best for them but even if it wasnt vague and generic there was no intention of changing working conditions either as a whole or individually to better suit the workers based on the answer.
