i am conflicted by tow things

a) the claims of hypergamy "predicting" women would unrestrictedly date up when possible, 80/20, etc

b) contrary claims from women and concepts of love and being in love that seem to contradict these

so i propose an idea to solve this riddle through a parallel idea:

studies show that people get happier till they have a certain amount of money, then get less happy again

https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/releases/2018/Q1/money-only-buys-happiness-for-a-certain-amount.html?mod=article_inline

what if that's the same with women wanting to reach a certain amount of ideal relationship or ideal partner (where biological "love" or being in love falls into place when reaching the sweetspot). a certain mix of indicators that i don't know (safety, attraction, freedom?).

same seems to be true for men, now that i think of it.

what do you think?
