INTRO After having gone through finding out my wife cheated on me, I seriously doubt I will ever co-habitate and take care of another female. Living with a woman, I learned, lets her live life on easy mode with perks and benefits that she is very likely to abuse. When you have a plate or a LTR, but living separately, not only can you put in some dread game, but you can also punish her by limiting your time and access to you. When a girl has unlimited access to you or your assets, there is no incentive for her to be on her best behavior. You might say your woman is always on her best behavior, but trust me, all it takes is ONE time for her to seriously fuck up your relationship, and to put everything you worked hard for in Jeopardy.
body
Every woman will tell you that a relationship takes work, but if you compare the complaints a TRP man has compared to a woman when it comes to living on their own, women really make it seem like paying bills, going to work, finding time for fun is some sort of impossible effort. I know this because women who have apartments and jobs don't like to hang out in the middle of the week like a young 22 year old girl living at home or renting a room, so eventually having a man pay for you and live with him becomes something of a life goal.
You are a Man
As a man, you might think it's a good idea to share expenses with someone as well, but fuck that, you are a TRP man, and you are already living life on hard mode. Once you live your life on easy mode for a while when living with a woman, you will not only get off track, but when she disrespects you, you will now be in her frame and give her power to keep on disrespecting you. She will quickly learn that whatever shit test she gives you, you will fail with flying colors, and that ultimate shit test will be to spend time with other guys or just go out and party without you.
just because you are the breadwinner, in 2016, you don't own her
There are lots of women out there who complain about their "controlling" boyfriends. What they really mean is that their "unlimited wallet" and "free ride" roomie shouldn't tell them they can't go out and have fun, now that the worry of paying bills and being responsible is offloaded from them. One of the worst things my wife ever said about me to her friends and her boy friend she had while we were married was that I was just a roomie. She totally forgot to mention I would take her out once or twice a week, have sex (I thought it was good, no complaints, obviously it wasn't enough), always good healthy food in the fridge, had healthcare coverage under my name, car, etc. Women see a man living with them differently than a man does. But man, it still hurts to know that is how she referred to me, and everybody she hung out with that I didn't know went along with her hamster.
One thing that made my break up and eventual divorce easy, at least money/material things wise, was that even before her, i was very minimal when it came to stuff other than my gear for supporting myself, i.e., computer desk, camera equipment, computers, etc. Very little or small furniture, no couch, etc, so when I had to move on, it was easy for her to take her stuff and mine stayed. In fact, I piled up all her clothes, belonging, let her mom take all our pictures (Fuck that, I don't want any reminders of us, even my wedding, it's like it never happened now) and let her pick them up the next morning when I found out. I wish I could say I handled the next two years like a boss, but I was lost and took me a while to get back on track, at least in my head. Career wise i skyrocketed, so there is that. The scary thought is that we were in the process of looking for a home when I found out. Lesson learn, the easier you make it for a girl, the bigger and badder teenage shit testing bitch she will be.
PROTECTING YOURSELF when CO-HABITATING
After going through that, here is my piece of advice for anybody who decides to co-habitate, even though they shouldn't:
-
Make the lease month to month
-
if not, find out how much it costs to break the lease, or at least do no more than 6 months lease at a time
-no shared expenses
-no joint bank account
-get the bills in your name, so you have control to shut them off, etc in case she doesn't want to leave, you have control to at least make her life miserable, i.e., no power, no water, etc. /u/MentORPHEUS mentioned this won't fly as a woman can just turn them on in her name and has the law on her side where you can't legally make her move out and leave her homeless, so I'll add in this:
FIND OUT HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO BREAK THE LEASE, HAVE THIS MONEY PUT AWAY.. IT'S BASICALLY RELATIONSHIP INSURANCE. IDEALLY YOU'LL LIVE ON A MONTH TO MONTH APARTMENT.
-if not, get the bills all in her name so you can bail , again, anything mixed takes things out of your control. You can justify that you pay most of the bills, and she has more money for her stupid shit, yay!
-DO NOT GET HER A CAR AND PAY FOR IT, in your name or hers, stupid
-no shared credit cards
-nothing stupid big personal that you can't fit in your car or anything you can't afford to leave behind in
-
Do not buy any big ticket items together, or be ready to just let her have it
-
Do not rent more than you can afford. Do not let her talk you into moving into luxury apartments. That benefits her, not you.
-
Realize it's temporary, so your time and money should go towards independence and saving money for yourself.
-
NO PETS. Buy a dog, cat, parrot, whatever, on your own dime, in your own home. You will get sucked into stupid things, like "visitation time", when you have moved on and she wants to fuck with you, and if you bond to the dog, you will make the breakup like a dirty divorce and use it to hurt each other. If you must have a pet, be ready to be OK knowing if anything goes wrong, it is collateral damage.
In other words, you have to live a life where you are ready to walk away so there are no stupid excuses that make it difficult. Best case scenario is where you just move your shit out of the place and your name and bills are not on the lease; you tell her you will pay all or most of the rent, all she has to do is put here name on the lease, yes, some places it is hard to do this, but hey, you are protecting your ass.
move forward, not backwards, towards independence There is nothing wrong with having roommates, or knowing life is hard living on your own. Some of us have to start at the bottom. A woman might want to sweet talk to you into getting the good life, like if there is some sort of shortcut. We are men. We don't get shortcuts like women do other than working hard and having the eye on the prize. It took me ten years to get my place, from living with my best friend roommate. In that time, I had other roommates, always worked hard in multimedia, working on projects, investing my money on equipment, travel and promoting myself and basically improving myself. Also, I didn't live with my wife until after we got married. I then decided to get a good job because of her to support her, got one of the best jobs ever, excellent salary and benefits, to then getting divorced and finally, for the first time ever, living on my own. It was scary, but it turns out i did everything else right in the past. I didn't burn bridges with my prior apartment managers, learned to be a good roommate living with another responsible guy, had my party years, and learned to live minimally. I also was responsible with my money, learned to save. i did not feel like I could never own a home, and actually voiced to myself what ai would do once I would get it. Eventually it included having a home with a wife, but that went out the window and now, bam! I even got the studio I always wanted as i converted the den into a bad ass workstation area, exactly how I wanted it, along with the rest of the house. No compromises.
FINAL THOUGHTS Suck it up and work your way up to living on your own, or have male roommates. From my breakup I went to living in a sad depressing empty apartment we used to share, then to the beach for two years, and now I have a home. One thing I learned that all that work and time you put into saving, fixing your credit and being a responsible human being is totally worth it. I now have my own castle, in a neighborhood I wanted to live and a home I am proud to own. My problems are now different, as I have more to lose, so I have to be ever more vigilante on how I apply TRP and make sure no one takes it away from me.
RUN DOWN Don't live with a woman. If you do, protect yourself. And when the relationship goes downhill, walk away.
lil story to show how crazy girls are and how they can fuck you living together
when me and the ex were looking for a house, we decided to move to a month to month studio apt (smart in hindsight) that was only $1000 and close to school. This is where the real shit testing began, as she wanted a dresser and a cat. I said no to both, as we didn't know where we would end up and would like to buy furniture once we get a house, no reason to start getting comfortable when we were already going through the loan process and saving money for a down payment. And we were saving too!
Anyways, she got a cat, and I tried to play nice, but this is when she learned she could do whatever she wanted as she just came home with it one day. At this time she would make up stories about going out and who she was spending time with, and when I tried to call her out on it, the controlling accusations and that I was yelling at her would start. I tried to be rational because fuck, I was now married so it makes saying things like "Fuck you I'm out" a liability because women can say stupid shit like "Fuck you, I'm divorcing you, take care of me in the meantime while I go fuck the other guy".
My wife was my unicorn, everything good, and she actually treated me better when I was financially worse off, but she was now living life easier than ever, and learning what her super powers as a girl are.
I did find out after having a gut feeling, but oh boy, the lies and trickle truthing that came out was unbelievable. Luckily, I had enough balls left to literally have her leave the next morning. (Her hamster says she did it voluntarily) I had her clothes piled up and belongings. She even brought momma hamster over, who asked me point blank if I had done the same to her daughter before. I was shocked at how stupid her mom was handling it, and instead, I slut shamed the ex by showing her mom pictures she had sent the guy, from our room and apartment I paid for, and to my parents as well, along with putting her on blast on Facebook. She even threatened to sue me for defamation for making a post on Facebook that day letting everybody know (I let everybody know she cheated and I am filing for divorce, nothing derogatory), so she got educated real quick on women rights. She also got mad because I ruined any chances of reconciliation because that should have stayed between me and her , but fuck that the other guy knows, right, laughing at me?
