The reason a lot of short men struggle is because women in general refuse to date short men.

Well this is wrong.

Pretending it has anything to do with their personalities is just an attempt by women to gaslight short men and pretend to be less superficial than they are.

And yet, height only impacts sexual partner count at 5'4" and shorter (and even then it's not 0). "All these women don't like me for my personality, am I out of touch? No, it's the women who are wrong!"

Women know rejecting short men over something they can’t control or change is shitty, so they make up the personality thing to make the choice seem more rational than it is.

Look, I'm on the short side. I can count on one hand how many times height has been a factor. And when it has, it's always been mentioned up front (usually by way of asking my height, and then vanishing after I give a cheeky response).

If he lied about his height and showed up 4 inches taller, would any woman complain?

Some would. Some have height maximums. Hard to believe with the shortcel narrative, but it's true.

Rejecting someone because you aren’t attracted to them isn’t “shallow” so your premise is false to begin with. Regardless short men are not categorically barred from the dating market and do date.

You are not being “gaslighted” because you’ve heard of women rejecting short men because their personalities are turn offs - of course short men can have unattractive personality traits just like everyone else. People trying to chalk up their bad luck in dating to one single trait like height generally aren’t being realistic barring extreme cases so if you hear people saying “maybe it’s your personality” maybe they are actually into something.

Hooking up doesn't really require anyone to know each other. That's why it's called "a hookup."

So this post isn't so much about "gaslighting" people as much as it's about not having preferences for short men.

There are some exceptions made by women for "short men," but those are individual differences for individual people. You can't expect every woman to make an exception for short men when being short is something that they don't find attractive. Short men, like every other man, will have to accept that not every woman is going to find them attractive, and continue searching for those who might. That's life.

A lot of the guys who claim to be shortcels on here say horrible bitter things about women.

I have short friends IRL who don’t say shit like that and most of them have girlfriends.

Not trying to say that being tall isn’t a huge advantage in the dating market, but tying all of your romantic failures to one single trait is just rationalization.

Bit of both, I think. I don't think a guy should lie about his height to get a date. It's like someone using a picture a few years old or lying about weight (not saying that the height and weight are the same, just that misleading someone on physical appearance can have awkward results). But I acknowledge that in general, shorter guys can have a harder time dating. I know when I was testing the waters about introducing my coworker to some of my women friends, I mentioned his height because I know some women are weird about dating shorter guys. A couple shrugged it off. One was very clear that she wouldn't.

But, that same coworker and a couple of my short guy friends are very successful in dating. One of those same women very much clicked with my coworker and she was interested but he got serious with another woman before they could really start anything.

There are women who won't date short guys. There are women who are honest about it, and ones who don't want to say that because that don't want to be perceived as shallow. There are women who don't care.

But I do know short guys who have no problem attracting women. They have great personalities.

Maybe it's a combination of height/personality. If you didn't get a second date, that still means you got a first. So, she was willing to overlook the height (heh), but once she saw the rest of the package, she decided to nope the hell outta there...
