Hey ladies.
Let me start with the details: 27F, 28M together and living with eachother for 6 years.
6.5 months ago I cracked from stress and broke up with my SO. After 1 week, I made out with a coworker. (I was emotionally involved at work for 2 months prior). Crazy yelling happened, I quit my job and we have been in.....recovery.
Needless to say I am asahmed, especially because I was reading RPW at the time.
The biggest issue was the lying of course. And now, I have felt first hand how it feels to be lied to. And I just gotta figure out how to deal with it now.
I accepted that my SO decided to stay with me. We have our ups and downs. Sex sometimes is really hard for him. I want to talk about sexual issues too but today I want to talk about lying.
So I lied to him obviously. And now because I hurt him so much, today he withheld from me that he went to go see a friend (married girl). As soon as he came back he told me like it was no big deal but started with, "I didnt tell you because I didnt know how you'd react".
I am sad because he now has a negative impression of me.
We had a little argument because I was quiet and didn't express why I was sad until he asked me.
He thought I was making a big deal for him seeing his friend. I told him it was about lying and he said he doesn't care about telling me things anymore.
I didn't know how to tell him I was sad because of how he thought of me. Not because he went out.
So I want to figure out how to not react like this again. He's basically going to start keeping more things from me now.
It seems as if everytime I would tell him I'm sad after he asks, he gets angry with me. This happened even before I cheated.
So how do I deal with the shock of when I find out he's holding things from me. I'm not blaming him because I know it's a defense tactic against me and what I did.
The things I did wrong today to trigger this stupid and needless fight: -I got sad instead of happy when he confessed his real way he spent his time today. -I was trying to hide my feelings and it showed so much that he ended up having to ask me which lead to a fight.
Now he's out to have fun but I feel like I might have ruined his night. And I fear that this will lead him to keep more things from me.
Do you mind if I ask how to deal with this in the future. I accept this is my reality now and him defending himself because he doesn't want to be hurt by me. Is it stupid of me to have hope that we'll be happy again?
