I (25F) have been with this guy (25M) for a year. He’s overall an amazing partner and I have very strong feelings for him. I really saw him as the one, but now I’m having some doubts. And because he’s the first guy I ever dated, I don’t really have a lot of experience in this area and was hoping for some advice.
Things were initially great between us. And then after 4 months, I found his reddit account and there were some... unsavoury posts on there. Some of them also didn’t really make sense (some of the posts were implying he was gay, which he 100% is not). I confronted him about it, and he said he was hacked, it wasn’t him. At first I didn’t believe it, but he insisted it wasn’t him and even cried. I softened up and dropped it, but I still felt like something was up. I confronted him a few more times with the same result (I confront, he denies, I keep it up, he tears up, and I give him some slack) until eventually he opened up that it was him, and that he was afraid of telling me the truth because he thought I’d leave. He confessed that it was him messing around with friends and that he wasn’t proud of himself for these posts. I forgave him because we all mess up, and I told him that if he lied again, we’re finished.
Now, it’s been a year. We’re both still deeply in love with one another. Yesterday though, as I was on Facebook, a suggested group popped up. It was a dating group for people in the tech industry (which he is in). It was a public group, and half the content there is memes, while the other is people posting dating bios. I looked at the members list, and my partner is one of them. Maybe he joined the group before we were dating and he just stayed for the memes... or maybe not. In any case I didn’t find any posts from him there. I tried to see if he was in any other groups, and I found another one. My partner always told me “you’re all I need, I don’t need any friends or anyone else” and that sort of thing. When I would tell him that’s not a healthy attitude, everyone needs friends, he would just shrug. In this second group, he’s posting a lot. Things like “what’s everyone up to during the quarantine?” and “who wants to play x video game with me? Here’s my friend code” and so on. Nothing bad, but it just seems like he’s being dishonest. He says one thing to my face, and then goes online to look for people to talk to and befriend.
I’m really angry and upset, and I want to confront him. It feels like he’s being dishonest. But on the other hand, there’s nothing wrong with being on a page for memes and being on another page just chatting with people. Am I overreacting? I told him that if he isn’t 100% honest I am done with him, but honestly it’s difficult to see my life without him
