Is there any point in getting married?

Money? No, men don’t wanna pay. I’m fine with paying for myself but that means men don’t benefit me financially.

Sex? We can get sex anytime from any number of men.

Care? Women take care of men, not the other way around. All the emotional labor and child care and cleaning and cooking and organizing and planning ...

Companionship and loyalty? This article says otherwise.

Yep. I did the caretaker thing for a while. It's all encompassing. One of the worst parts was that everyone just acted like it was a given.

Obviously I would take months off work, never see my friends, stay up all night watching him breathe, argue with insurance companies, research the best treatments, go to every doctor's appointment, keep notes so all the specialists and providers were on the same page, go back to the pharmacy when the meds were wrong, beg medical secretaries to have the doctor send in the right prescription, rush him to the ER, make food that complied with all the nutritionist's recommendations, hold him when he cried, listen to his fears etc. The practical, emotional and social labor never ended. And NO ONE cared about me. Least of all him.

I still vividly remember the first time I got sick after he was in remission. He was so RESENTFUL of having to do the bare minimum to help me for 2 days. Begrudgingly picking up my meds, sighing when I needed something from the kitchen, not coming until the fifth time I told him I needed help. There was zero comforting of any kind. He just acted like I was this enormous burden interrupting his gaming time.

I poured my entire being into caring for him. He sulked and did the absolute minimum for 48 hours when I needed him.

They divorce, or they murder. I've read a few news stories about men killing sick wives and then moving the new lady in very quickly.
