All they have to gain from it is good relationships with HVW. But most of them don't care to have good relationships with HVW. That's really why a lot of men are/stay LV - their perspective is so skewed that they can't even begin to imagine the depth of love you can experience with another person, and therefore have no reason to try and experience that.

I dont even think they see us as people but rather objects for sex or emotional/etc labor. So of course they see us as a source to extract things from - and if there's nothing to gain from this source, they're not going to bother treating it well. It's sick.
