Same old, same old: found LVM logic on Middlemarch by George Eliot, published in 1871. I was astonished to find FDS-esque wisdom in this novel. The character, Casaubon, is in his 40s when he marries Dorothea who is 21. She expects him to be wise and he never lives up to her expectations.
