I was just on my lunch break, taking a walk, and nearly bumped into a guy (it was 100% his fault). He said "careful, cunt" as he passed me.

It shocked me a bit and I just carried on walking, but now I feel like the ultimate beta for not standing up for myself.

I am trying to rationalise it my mind by thinking: "you're close to your place of work, in a new job, on the clock. Fighting strangers during your lunch break is a bad idea."

But it's not really working and I am feeling angry, disrespected and frankly ashamed of myself.

What would've been the most appropriate response? What would you have done? Should I have challenged the guy, even though it would've likely ended in a fight?
