I'm happy for you, but please keep an eye out on him. It can be a red flag if he says all his exes were abusive, watch out.

I am speaking to someone new and he started to talk about past relationships and why they didn't work out... I immediately zoned out lol.

I politely stopped him and said something to the effect of understanding that past relationships may shape who we are in a sense, but I don't want to hear about his past relationships right now because I am still trying to get to know him and that we can discuss those things later when the time comes.

Foh I'm not listening to that shit. I felt so empowered!

I then politely moved on and asked how many relationships he has been in and was able to find out his last relationship was like two years ago and he has only has 3 serious relationships. (I have a rule that a man needs to be single for minimum of 1 year or I don't take him seriously. I also don't take men seriously if they are always in and out of relationships their entire 20s) I changed the topic after that point to something more lighthearted. Like someone else just said, you aren't his therapist!!!!

Okay dating for 5 days, you see anxiety already is he trying to blame is on his ex? Why is he rushing to be your white knight anyways? Sounds like he wanted brownie points for you to dish out . And then he says his last relationship was abusive, pity party. Sounds gaslit up in here. And how you put “ not an asshole” like how would you even know you dont know until youve actually been seeing them as a partner for 3 months . Also its not like hes going to treat you like he was treating her right away.

And if he blames himself for the relationship why would you want any part? Shouldn’t he have time to fix himself? Instead of using you as a therapist?

Hes the one getting the after affects still sounds like a pity party, what after effect? Both parties get after effects. She has them too and youre only seeing his side for some odd reason. Forgive me for sounding harsh, but this actually angers me, because my ex is going to do exactly this. “ good guy” yeah.

And to your edit if youve known him for years and it hasnt it usually wasnt meant to be.

And even the more I think about it you’ve been his “ friend” for 2 years, he was in a relationship. So he kept you on the back burner as a friend he has interests in. I dont know ...I could see how that could be an issue even being in the relationship he was in before. Would you want him to do this to you with his friends?
