As we've been accused of this regularly, I decided in order to be honest to myself - I had to attempt to objectively look at the accusation to see if it had any merit. So here I have with me Cults 101: Checklist of Cult Characteristics. So let's kick it off.

The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.

Nope. We don't have a leader. /u/RedPillSchool is the closest thing we have to one - and I honestly no very little of his more specific opinions.

Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

Nope. We're pretty open to discussion among ourselves and it's kind of hard to "punish" someone over the internet. It inevitably happens occasionally from a few individual, but it's not discouraged as a rule, by all members. Edited to reflect /u/ZorbaTHut 's comment

Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).

Zippo.

The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry—or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).

Not even a little. Advice: yes. Dictating, no.

The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).

I'm going to say no. I don't think I'm better than anyone - I just think I'm right.

The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.

I concede this one. Alpha/Beta, RedPill/BluePill - I could see myself using this as an argument against us. But that said, having an "in-group" and "out-group" is common in any group or denomination. So yes

The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).

Again, no leader.

The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members' participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).

While some question the morality of things advocated here - regardless of whether they're right, it's not done to further some "great cause".

The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt in order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.

Nope, but hey - that kind of sounds exactly like feminism...

Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.

Again, no leader - no subservience. If these things happen it is not forced in anyway.

The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.

I don't think we evangelize much at all - people just find the sub.

The group is preoccupied with making money.

‪I'm not aware there's even a "donate" button hidden anywhere.

Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.

Nope, there's only voluntary engagement and discussion here.

Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.

‪Not at all, this is not advocated.

The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.

That would involve becoming hermit and living on your computer - thus defeating the entire point.

So there we have it: 1 out of 15.
