Men give compliments to feel good about themselves. They couldn't give two shits about whether she's actually the writer or not, and that "I thought you might enjoy hearing it" really gave him away...

If she was a consolidated author, do you really think pretty words by a man who can't even read her name correctly (or bother reading her book) would have any relevance at all?

That was a boneheaded move, but can we fangirl Roxane Gay and Samantha Irby for a minute? I bought "Wow, No Thank You" as soon as it came out and recently read "Bad Feminist," they are both phenomenal!
