I'm in the process of vetting a series of guys and have been going on a lot of first dates - can you girls link some killer first date outfits?

It is hard to say without knowing your body type. I have hardly got a curve on my body and a very flat chest. I can wear a rather low neckline before it begins to look revealing. One of my good friends is curvier than a switchback and has large breasts; the same neckline that looks demure on me would be a riot of immodesty on her.

Personally, I think that outfit looks exquisitely unremarkable. Taylor is so beautiful that she could convince most of us that a potato sack is chic, but that outfit would render most of us totally forgettable.

Do you know what type of guy you're trying to attract? What you're trying to convey with your outfit? What type of venues and what time of the day?

I always "test out" outfits in public/club meetings before wearing them on dates. See what type of men respond/approach you and if women are friendly to you. If too many men (and the wrong sort) are approaching you right and left it could be that the outfit is too revealing/tight and it makes you seem "easy." When women are friendly that is good because it means you seem more approachable but not in an "easy" way. If quality men are talking to you more that's good, if your appearance brings out their shy/dorky side and they're smiling a lot that's an indicator of a good outfit for a date.

I tend to incorporate blues (particularly green-blue) which studies have shown makes you appear more likeable and trustworthy. There are numerous shades of blue so test out different ones, even if its just a bit in your necklace. I noticed a difference in how people respond to me.

Just in general consider who your date is: background, culture, values, etc. when picking the style (ex. white in many cultures symbolizes death. Black in a city is cool but in a small-town might seem aloof.)

Black is actually a great color for clothes because it's incredibly forgiving and sexy without being flashy.

Rather than avoid black clothes, try to focus on cut and shape. I love your example... from the waist down. The black sweater Taylor is wearing is kind of shapeless and uninspired. There's no play on texture or feminine details (e.g. lace or accessories).

My rule of thumb is to pair "sexy" on one end with "conservative" on the other: a crop top with a pair of jeans and a jacket, or a cute boat-neck sweater with a pair of shorts/skirt.

It really depends on what the date is. Do you have something in mind? I usually tend to go for soft, feminine looks during day time dates i.e. florals, pastels, flowy dresses or flowy tops with nice jeans. For night-time dates, if it's just a drink, ill wear dark wash jeans with usually a dark red top that is just a bit suggestive and heels. A fancy dinner date, I'll usually go for a blouse and pencil skirt. Of course all of these really depends on how casual the setting is.

I might be old-fashioned here, but my go-to for meeting new people (dates or otherwise) is a flowered shift. Feminine, but not provocative. They layer well and can work in a variety of situations.

Go as you look on a usual day, maybe slightly nicer. Don't show up like you auditioning for a part on Broadway. Let them impress you.
