for anyone who dislikes authority figures, how did you overcome this to embrace mentorship relationships?

I use disliking them as motivation and energy to make myself get to the top.

I also tap into humility which allows me to learn from them and see how they themselves got there

You don't have to bow down to everyone you respect.

Mentor-protege is more like a father-son relationship than a boss-employee relationship.

The key here is to find a mentor that you truly admire (this takes time and sometimes too much effort)

I'm company hopping. Soon I don't have to anymore, because I will have my own business and I'll be working alone.

I'm the type of person to speak out about things that aren't running optimal, even if it means that I offend someone (who clearly doesn't belong in the position he/she is in). It's never personal but people make it so. Only licking someones butt get's you somewhere if you have an interest in improving your paycheck/position.

Only way out of this shit is doing everything by yourself.

The problem with authority is when one has no choice but to submit tothe., because then their authority rests on power, not merit.

Build a life where you have options, so you can avoid those relationships where you are subjugated by the difference in power.

I have no problem working for someone if I picked a job because I wanted it. But I have a problem working for someone who picked me while I needed the job.

I redefined what authority means to me. A cop is not an authority to me unless I want to learn how to arrest someone. An investor is not an authority unless I want to learn how to invest. When someone tries to act like an authority and they're clearly not, I just stand back and watch them crash and burn. I've watched so many people crash and burn, especially in business, and even more so in cannabis business. Sometimes a person surprises me and really is an authority and my patience pays off, and they earn my respect.

By realizing that I am the student and realizing that I need to listen to a person that knows more than me so I don't bump my head more than I need to.

I have some ASPD so I "suffer" from this dilemma as well. The only thing that helped is meditation and which has helped me control my emotions.

Note this is also the only thing I have tried to "help" myself, so their are most likely other sources out there as well such as therapy
