(About a month ago, I asked FDS why men were so deceptive about their drinking habits. In that post, I explained that drinking is a big concern of mine because I dated a covert alcoholic for years. Here's my update.)

In the last month, I've gone on six first dates. Five of these men ordered more than one drink on our dates, even though I never ordered a single drink, and all of them bragged about past drunken escapades. All of them commented on how expensive their drinks were and none of them offered to pay for my meal.

(Side rant: These guys asked me out, why should I pay for a dinner I was asked to go on? Is the practice of taking a woman on a date completely dead? Am I missing something? Why aren't parents teaching their sons proper date etiquette? What if a first date turned into the beginning of something good? Don't these men want to make a woman's first date something she can reminisce about someday? Anyways...)

I feel like tearing my hair out. The last guy I went on a date with stopped after one drink and commended me on being sober. Compared to the last five guys, he feels like a catch, but he didn't offer to pay and he didn't walk me to my car. I've learned from FDS that these are predictors of a bad boyfriend, but my recent string of horrible dates is making him look good, and I need you ladies to talk some sense into me before I start to romanticize him. How do I tell him off?
