The general consensus around here is "all vasectomies should be secret".

But as far as court, no. The only thing that matters there is DNA / paternity test.

I can 100% recommend that you do this and keep it a secret. Get tested regularly, buy at home kits and see your doctor. They are great but not always perfect.I never tell the women that I’m seeing that I have had a vasectomy.

*also get a no contract cellphone just for dating

On more than one occasion a woman has come back to me and told me that she was pregnant with my baby. I give them enough rope to hang themselves with and then tell them.

*also it is comical how much they will produce. A pregnancy test, maybe even an ultrasound if you let it go long enough.

I've had this little scam attempted twice over the years.

Both times, all it took was presenting them the paperwork for my vasectomy in 2002, along with another form showing zero sperm count and a document stating that I'm willing to take a paternity test, but my time will be compensated in the event that I'm found not to be the father.

I never heard anything back from either of them.

I had a secret vasectomy! My gf had a pregnancy scare, I already have two kids from my marriage, and I definitely didn't want more. I knew she wanted kids someday, and was hoping I would change my mind.

Anyway, my family lives far away, so I had to drive myself. The doctor asked if I had someone to drive me home and I lied and said "yes". Made it home just fine on my own. My gf was PISSED. She cried for days, made a big thing about it. She didn't leave though. We stayed together another two years, then I caught her having an affair with someone from her work(I found a receipt).

Best decision I ever made! I feel as though I dodged a major bullet. It would have been a nightmare making 18 years of child support, and dealing with her for custody.

If you get one you have to go in every so often to make sure your shooting blanks. The vas deferens sometimes re-attaches (grows back together). Your main worry is she puts your name on the birth certificate and 2 years go buy without you knowing about it. Then the state comes looking for you. So if any of your ex's suddenly gets knocked up and her new boyfriend is a bum, your name might be on the birth certificate!

I prefer to have my sex life in another city or state, with women I won't meet again or who I can be with anonymously. That way there's no need for a vasectomy and they can keep any kids they want without me paying for it.

Consult an attorney. State laws vary quite a bit.

You would have to have medical proof you were infertile within the time frame specified by state law. You would also need negative paternity test results and contest any paternity claims within 2 years of birth. Many women who plan this out often fight allowing a paternity test or keep the child’s existence secret until the 2 years expires.

Vasecotmies aren't 100% all the time. Some guys tubes can actually heal up after the fact. That's why it's important to get two tests afterwards, to be sure. Also, a really small number of guys can heal up after that, too, hence why it isn't a silver bullet in court.

Also, I'd be up front about having one.

I had some done 6yrs ago and get a test done every yr for zero count. Best choice I ever made. My advice, yes get one done if you're sure but maybe put a sample aside in long-term storage in case you do want kids later, you can always have it destroyed at any time. Just don't tell anyone about it, keep that secret, just in case. Also make sure you get a count test done yearly. Modern vasectomies can be pretty much 100% as they don't just cut & tie...they take a significant length of tube out so it's impossible to re-attach (you can request this option if you're sure you will never want a reversal).

from what i've heard it does hold up in court but in some states if you don't get your mail telling you to come to court and u don't show up you are fucked. You will be paying child support for 18+ years and u can't get out of it even if you aren't the father.

Well, if medicine and science are to be trusted... just get snipped and let the paternity tests speak for themselves. The negative tests will prevent you from having to pay for child support / show up on Maury / meet Jerry Springer / diss Dr. Phil in real life.

Getting a paternity early seems to be the answer. In some family courts they consider bonding with a child the equivalent of DNA.

Vasectomy or not you can always demand a paternity test. In fact I think it's the only thing courts will accept. Vasectomies can fail, so it's not proof you didn't cause a pregnancy.
Isn't every vasectomy a secret if you want it to be? Unless you're sleeping with your Dr. or something. Just do it if you definitely never want kids. Don't need to tell anyone.
