It's a silly one, but I love shitting on AmITheAsshole, so I'll say it again here:

That subreddit is nothing but man bashing day in and day out. So many stories with completely reasonable men being torn apart in the comments while a woman in the story who is so clearly in the wrong is let off the hook through all sorts of mental gymnastics.

Multiple times, people have taken a post original posted by a man who was voted the asshole, swapped the genders, and posted it some time later, resulting in votes of "not the asshole". And vice versa.

The people on that sub absolutely hate it when you point it out. They'll be in the midst of tearing a man to shreds in a situation where there is 0% chance a woman would get even a single YTA vote, and if you point out the gender bias, you'll get buried in downvotes without a single response. Because they have no counter-argument. They know you're right. It just makes them mad that you're saying it. I've also had such a comment removed for being uncivil. Apparently, pointing out that a subreddit has a bias problem, using civil wording, is uncivil.

For an example, recently there was a post where a man, early on in a relationship with his girlfriend, made an innocent, off-hand remark about her leg hair, which she hadn't shaved in a while. She immediately launched into a tirade about misogyny. For some reason, OP didn't see the massive red flag there, and continued to date her for years. Now, OP is growing a mustache for a fun competition with some friends. His girlfriend repeatedly tells him how much she hates it, that it looks creepy, and that she refuses to kiss him until he shaves it off. He pointed out the hypocrisy of these two events, and she flew off the handle. Most of the votes were NTA, but there were several highly upvoted ESH votes, with people saying that OP is just as bad as his girlfriend.

Imagine a post where a woman makes an off-hand remark about her boyfriend's facial hair, and he immediately yells at her, ranting about how a woman should never even mention a man's facial hair, because it's sexist. Then imagine at some point, this woman stops shaving her legs, and her boyfriend continually berates her about it, and threatens to withhold physical affection until she capitulates and shaves her legs like he wants. I can't even imagine the scenario where anyone gets upvoted for suggesting that the woman is in the wrong. It's unfathomable. But when OP was a man, many people agreed that he was in the wrong as well.

But they hate when you point out that bias.

Some women chose male avatars in video games/online personas to avoid people hitting on them. This could probably be extended to real life as well, being able to go places without getting excessive amounts of attention from the opposite sex. I brought my 13 year old daughter to the Dollar General yesterday to buy nail glue and 2 adult men hit on her on the walk from the car to the store.

The biological investment for having kids is way higher for women

I am sure most women would like to switch to the way society values men after a certain age. I doubt teen girls want to be judged/valued the same way we value teen boys but I think 50 year old women would very much want to be judged the same way 50 year old men are.

You should add getting a promotion at work to your list since Female managers will promote women 75% of the time and male managers will promote women 54% on the time. You should probably add consent laws too since they give woman all the power and men all the responsibility.

This feels like an exercise in "the grass is always greener" and women would be able to give you a much better list than we could...

Edit: You should also add reproductive rights to your list

Edit 2: You should also add access to sex/hook up culture. 22% of men reported 0 intimate contact between the ages of 18-30 vs only 8% of women.

Edit 3: Life expectancy is another big one, you get to live an extra 5 years just for being born with a vagina. Divorce and family law is another massive one.

ive heard that arguably its easier to get a job as a man. I dont agree with it, but thats what I hear all the time... mean while, i am apart of a hiring commitee where we have protocols that say "DO NOT HIRE MEN, hire women instead"

To be prioritized for protection and rescue in any life-threatening situation
To have you emotions considered valid
To get a scholarship
To get sexual attention
To be allowed into "female spaces" (there are no male spaces)
To not be subject to random street violence
To get shelter when homeless
To get a free meal
To get free drinks
To get (free) admission to a club
To be allowed to wear whatever you want
To have your claims of victimhood believed

Here in the US you can't use gender/race/sexual orientation/marital status or anything like that as a criteria for bank loans. It is very illegal and if a financial institution got caught the consequences are severe. You can't use anything but credit scores and verifiable income.

Why do people ALWAYS forget that women have it Sooo much easier in the dating world??! It irritates me that this is never looked at or acknowledged as one of the worst double-standards in the world of sexism. Cuz it is. Come on. I'd love to just sit on my a$$ and get real dates that come to me, just by making myself look pretty and setting up social media accounts on the internet. (that I'd get 50 likes just for sharing what I had for dinner. 😂) Then said dates pay for everything or don't get no poon & they get called names for not paying. Then get a free roof & all my other bills paid lol. These kind of double-standards in our gynocentric society imo are a lot worse than some unsubstantiated college/job stuff.

I didn't get to play volleyball in high school because I'm a boy... apparently that year alone there were 4 of us who wanted it bad enough to use the same law as allows girls to join boys teams (that didn't fly) ... but we couldn't get a boys team because we weren't allowed more boys sports than girls sports. My solution of "all boys sports with out a comparable girls sport are, by that law, coed and as such starting a boys volleyball team still wouldn't violate that" didn't fly either.

I've seen women on reddit pretend to be men/hide their gender altogether just to avoid creepy DMs or comments. I know it's significantly easier to get attention as woman on the internet, but not all women necessarily like it.
